Dobbs finished the year with 3,777 yards of total offense. That is 18 yards short of the school record, held by Peyton in 1997.

Y'all read that twice, and let it sink in a bit.

Going to miss Dobbs a ton :hi:

And he would have passed it if JJ or AK could have held on to any of the balls they dropped too. That's an amazing stat, Dobbs is a stud and will be missed!

"Tennessee scored 473 total points in 2016, setting a single-season school record (last, 471 points in 1993)."

"With 12 rushing TDs in 2016, Dobbs established a new Tennessee school record for rushing scores in a single season by a quarterback, surpassing himself (11 in 2015) and Heath Shuler (11 in 1992)."

"The Vols have now scored in 285 straight games, which stood as the fourth-longest active streak in the NCAA entering the game against Nebraska."

"Barnett stands as the only player in SEC history to record 10-or-more sacks in three consecutive seasons (2014-16)."

"The Vols, who wore their Smokey Grey uniforms to honor those affected by the wildfires in Gatlinburg, also limited Nebraska to 61 rushing yards, which is the second-fewest UT has allowed on the year. The 61 rushing yards were the fewest Tennessee has given up to a team from a Power Five conference since holding Vanderbilt to 25 yards on Nov. 22, 2008."

So are you going to keep this up all offseason? That's the ultimate question. How many posters are going to feel it is their obligation to point out those two (admittedly) miserable losses every time something positive happens for the program this offseason?

I do believe negavols have a lot in common with whiny Hillary supporters.

At some point you have to move on.

I'm all for moving on. I wanna put it behind us too. I'm super excited to see what our staff shake up looks like and what Butch can do with Blackburn as his AD.

But I'm not gonna NOT call out people who justify those losses and try to brush them under the rug just because they don't want to think uncomfortable thoughts.

If you want a safe-space echo chamber where nobody is allowed to acknowledge that some bad things happened this season and some of it was totally avoidable, then go start your own message board.

I was really encouraged by the run defense and strides taken by a few guys like McDowell and Kongbo. Great to see those guys end on a positive note with some good momentum.

Now we just need to let Shoop bring in a guy of his own picking to work with our CBs and teach them to turn their head and find the ball and hopefully the defense can get back to 2015 levels or better.

But, but, but, South Carolina and Vandy.

Let's hope CBJ makes an adjustment and gets rid of Martinez. Our DBs need a better coach!

I think more than anything we just need to make sure our defensive staff is all on the same page.

The vol in me wants us to bring Terry Fair back, but I hope that whoever they bring in is someone Shoop can work well with first and foremost.

I'm not a safe spacer either. That's why I'm calling you out. Get used to it.

Absolutely. I'm all for Terry Fair because he is a Vol at heart, but need a guy Shoop can rely on and trusts to coach his DBs. Like you said, the chemistry is more important than the name.

OK. I decided to get an Avi. I need suggestions if you will.

Here you go:

Shoop may get to build his whole defensive staff.

Martinez is almost surely moving on.
Stripling rumored to retire, or take an administrative role.
Thigpen, thanks for the recruiting, has not developed his crew, and we need an upgrade there.

You can bet he has a list of people he knows, and outsiders as well. He'll look at film to see properly coached technique. If Butch likes Fair, this conversation has already been had, and film has been seen. Coaching convention will bring together compatibility issues and they will make some decisions then

IMO

That was after she was rocked & basically unconscious on her feet.

She didn't just charge in hands down not defending herself Lol. Not being a smart ass btw

No, but she stood stationary with no head movement and kept reaching for the clinch exposing her chin. Horrible, horrible strategy. She also had to know Nunez would be that aggressive and they had no plan to counter it

What does "calling me out" have to do with not wanting a safe space? I'm not sure the words you're using mean what you think they mean.

"I don't want a safe space: I just react with hostility to those with opinions that don't align with my own." Lol

Part of me would love to see Shoop bring in all guys of his own choosing and I do think our LB development hasn't been up to snuff, but I do worry about being able to replace Thigpen on the recruiting trail.

Besides Butch, our staff isn't really stacked with great recruiters.
