'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Rivals:

2013 5th
2014 31st
2015 51st

2016 4th

You never know what the he!! you are talking about, do you?

So if Harbaugh comes in right away and wins with such terrible recruiting classes, why are we giving Butch 5 years to do it when he can't even beat vandy consistently 🤔

Wow its depressing as heck up in here.

VQ didn't help that. The fact that Fort and Hubbs remained pretty confident in our chances until today fueled a lot of hope. Now that such confidence is known to be fading quickly, several posters now have the opportunity to harp on the coaching staff and their shortcomings this year on the field as well as in recruiting. Certain posters got a lay-up opportunity to be negative and continue to post the same old garbage that has flooded much of the forum lately.

Akers is coming to Rocky Top. You all can flame me later, but my gut is still telling me he and his family's relationship with Coach G wins out. If not, then we really can't be that disappointed. Ty Chandler is a very good RB prospect and we still have two more years of Kelly with Fils-Aime bringing some speed to the equation.

The same "gut" that told you Trey Smith was going to his announcement party even though he's in Orlando for the UAA game?...LOL:thud:

Sure Alabama does, as well as FSU historically and Clemson as of late, but there are several programs that recruit extremely well that haven't won on a consistent basis with their recruiting rankings: Georgia, Notre Dame, USC since the mid 2000's, Texas, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, Michigan, Texas A & M, Ole Miss, and teams like South Carolina or North Carolina both have been consistently ranked in the top 20 recruiting rankings yet fail to maintain that level of success on the field. No to mention other teams like Baylor and TCU that rarely crack the top 25 on a consistent basis.

IIRC, Georgia had the second highest average ranked classes nationally (just behind USC) between '01 and '11 according to Rivals. Keep in mind that the Alabama dynasty classes started later in this period.

Georgia just wasn't able to ever convert them into national championship teams.

Of course Akers would be a great get, but it's not such a big deal if he goes elsewhere.

With Chandler coming in, the Vols are already in excellent shape at the RB position.

A potetial plus side to missing on Akers is one more space to bring in another solid recruit for a position of greater need.

Rumors occur. Just like all of a sudden there is seemlingly info everywhere saying Cam is FSU bound. That might be true, but I can't see all the info leaking out on him the day of his commitment with how reserved he has been throughout the entire process.

Oh really? Kelly was a non factor til Hurd quit. He is a good RB but not elite like Chandler and Akers are. It's not stupidity to fathom Kelly being replaced mid year. But keep up the insults, you seem to be good at it.

You have it twisted. Heck by your standards Kamara is not elite either.

Kelly was a non factor because of idiotic coaches catering to a diva. They were too scared to put him in and have Hurd cause more drama.

He got his chance to show everyone outside of the practice field what he could do when Hurd got his bell rung and didn't make it to A&M. The rest is history.

After Higgins we should have learned not to get very excited about big time recruits. They go where teams win.

Inb4treysmith our lone wolf elite recruit

Is that so? Why does UGA continue to get Top 5 recruiting classes? Smart is a dud.

They're the best conference this year. SEC is nothing without bama this year
Frightening schedule they've got:

It's not about the X's and O's, it's bout the Jimmies and Joes.

When you have the Jimmys and the Joes and still fail (like we did this season) then its about the coach.

We were more talented on paper than South Carolina and Vanderbilt. No excuse for those losses. They were on Butch Jones.

Lol! Oh really? you telling me a guy 3rd on the depth chart was a non factor until he actually got playing time? Kelly had 6.7 yards a carry, Kamara 5.9 and Hurd 3.7, so I would say it is stupidity thinking he will be replaced...

Big Ten top to bottom was better then SEC this year

Why? Because the media told you?

Lets see what happens in bowl season.

The SEC's rep didn't come from one good regular season. It came from year after year of consistent dominance both in the regular season and post season.

The Big 10 will be exposed as frauds this bowl season. I expect Ohio State and Michigan to lose to Clemson and FSU. And their lower tier teams like Nebraska and Iowa will get dominated by us and Florida.
