Mediocre 14th class coming in hot

You, nor anyone else knows if this class will be mediocre for at least two years. The difference between our class and the top 5 is 2-3 recruits in general. I have witnessed many freakouts over recruits that did come and those that did not most never amounted to much in the grand scheme of things. I vividly recall the great freakouts over Gabe Wright, Jimmy Clausen, Chris Leak, Bryce Brown, Ryan Perriloux, Brandon Warren, Patrick Turner, etc. not just for us but for other teams and most of them turned out to be severely over-rated.

Whatever happened to the poster Escape Goat? I feel like he would have some entertaining thoughts in this thread.

Then why do the highest rated recruiting classes always win the most? OSU, Bama, Michigan, etc.

Now these are words of wisdom.

Bama and OSU both have HOF coaches. Washington is in the playoff this year with what would generally be considered "garbage" recruiting classes. Clemson didn't have elite recruiting classes until they started being in national contention.

From what I understand it seems many are taking an FSU's mods, who's father's a coach at FSU, as the gospel, while not taking into account that maybe Cam told FSU what they wanted to hear. If he can tell our coaches what they want to hear then he can FSU's too. Either way I think it's terrible for that guy to make comments basically assuring Cam to FSU knowing full well that because of who his dad is people are going to take his words to heart.

Michigan's last few recruiting classes (2014 and 2015) have not been that good.

And if recruiting classes were infallible, FSU would be in the playoff instead of Clemson because the gap in talent per the recruiting services between FSU and Clemson is on par with the gap between us and Alabama.

Also LSU would be alot more formidable if the recruiting rankings were infallible.

And Georgia would have run away with the East.

Sure Alabama does, as well as FSU historically and Clemson as of late, but there are several programs that recruit extremely well that haven't won on a consistent basis with their recruiting rankings: Georgia, Notre Dame, USC since the mid 2000's, Texas, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, Michigan, Texas A & M, Ole Miss, and teams like South Carolina or North Carolina both have been consistently ranked in the top 20 recruiting rankings yet fail to maintain that level of success on the field. No to mention other teams like Baylor and TCU that rarely crack the top 25 on a consistent basis.
