I gotta admit, that's one thing the Russians always did well, reliable ammo drums. And other than the Thompson drums, Americans typically sucked at producing a reliable drum fed small arm weapon.
Yep, the beta mags for the ar15 are so hit and miss it's beyond pathetic. To use the graphite dry lube or not, it's a joke. Lol
The rpk is pretty cool, basically an ak with a heavier barre and slightly thicker receiver. My only problem is with the point of impact shift with the deployed bipod. It runs very well though. It's something to mess around with anyway.
Can a private party ship a 22 rifle to another private party? Is it a major ordeal to do so? Or would it be easier to just haul it up there myself? Rifle will be going from Tennessee to Kentucky.
TIA
Be very careful. Are you selling it? If so, go through a FFL. This is from ATF website.
Under Federal law, an unlicensed individual is prohibited from transferring a firearm to an individual who does not reside in the State where the transferee resides. Generally, for a person to lawfully transfer a firearm to an unlicensed person who resides out of State, the firearm must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) within the recipients State of residence. He or she may then receive the firearm from the FFL upon completion of an ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check. More information can be obtained on the ATF website at ATF Home Page | Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Unlicensed Persons | Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The GCA provides an exception from this prohibition for temporary loans or rentals of firearms for lawful sporting purposes. Thus, for example, a friend visiting you may borrow a firearm from you to go hunting. Another exception is provided for transfers of firearms to nonresidents to carry out a lawful bequest or acquisition by intestate succession. This exception would authorize the transfer of a firearm to a nonresident who inherits a firearm under the will of a decedent. See 18 U.S.C. 922(a)(5).
Thanks for the info SDV.
In my case, it is my MILs rifle. She forgot it while visiting and I want to get it back to her without having to make the 400 mile round trip. However, if it's gonna be a pain shipping, I'll have to transport it myself.
Thanks, MIL![]()
I tried to ship a Keltec pistol from Tennessee to Florida for repair. I'm sure Keltec is FFL but UPS would only allow me to ship it overnight. Said it was a law. It was going to cost $60 to overnight it so I just waited and dropped it off when I vacationed in the area.
Thanks guys.
One last question. Will UPS ask for proof of ownership, and, if so, how do I/she prove it?
I'm paranoid about guns and fed radars. Lol
Honestly I print the shipping at home, take it in to drop off, and that's it. The less people know what's in the box, the better. If you get an uninformed employee who says they don't ship guns you get a rigamaroll in front of a bunch of strangers that now know your business. Or they act like they're handling nuclear waste, and who knows what they're telling other workers in the warehouse.
I don't know if you're also shipping ammo but that has to go in a separate box with ORMD markings.
