Lol.

Your right. So when is the time for those that accused me of trolling to finally admit I was right?

Let me know as I will be waiting

You're right that Jancek would have been able to coach up a depleted defense? When did you prove that exactly? I never thought you were trolling...just talkin outya ass...affectionally referred to as "Bruining" on VN. :)

We've been wanting and predicting that several would leave all season long. To say that no one is going to come here that is a better OL coach than Mahoney or a better secondary coach than Martinez or a better LB coach than Thig is absurd.

Sure, changes were coming. That was before this coaching staff blew a chance at winning the East, then a chance at the Sugar Bowl.

Butch has one more year, essentially. It will be tough to hire better replacements. Not impossible.

Much easier to upgrade when the narrative is just coming off a sugar bowl than an inexplicable loss resulting in a lame duck coach.

Kiffin and Strong. get it done. Absolutely crazy, but I am serious. Kiffin would have our offense rolling like a Ferrari and Strong with the D. Everyone will get over the Kiffin crap by Orange and White game. Kiffin will be cheaper and Strong no buy out. Tell Butch to GTFO on his own. Do it. By 2018 there will be energy and synergy. Kiffin learned some things under Saban, don't be fooled.

Charlie Strong has far too much integrity to ever work for that scum and any fan that wants Lane here must come from historically abusive relationships.

We'll finish the year with either 8 or 9 wins. We have quite possibly a special player in JG, very good RBs, and WRs who just keep getting better. Our losses early on were decidedly OL related as well as attitude related. Our loss last night and the play on D since the SC has decidedly been DT and injured all over the place on defense related.

While it certainly feels like CBJ is a dead man walking. The reality is a lot different. We have fixable problems and a lot of talent returning.

Best to view this situation in terms of what's easiest/the path of least resistance for the AD/TPTB.

As fans, we know that it's the right time to cut bait. We've seen this movie over and over and over. Both at Tennessee and elsewhere.

But to the guys who make the hiring and firing decisions, there's absolutely no reason to get their asses in gear and make a change. That requires a lot of work and a lot of money. It will make for a few very uncomfortable weeks. They flat out don't want to do it until their hand is forced.

So they will let Butch hang around for another year. We will see mass staff defections. He will probably be forced to promote Z to OC and Martinez to DC. Players will transfer. The wheels will fall off in 2017 and we'll go 5-7 or 6-6.

Then and only then will the Tennessee brass realize that they have no choice but to get off their lazy, shortsighted behinds and make a change. And because we'll screw up the Blackburn hire, we'll undoubtedly have another fundraising guru who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and will have a chance to look like a genius by hiring a bargain coach from the MAC.

That's true though the narrative is a bit overblown just like it was overblown on the hype end earlier in the year. That said, upgrading OL, LB, Secondary etc type coaches doesn't require a Sugar Bowl or even a good narrative. We're not talking OC and DC hires.

If several assistants do leave, I just don't see the point in keeping CBJ around.

Butch is going to be let go eventually; no one worth a damn will come here to coach alongside him.

That's exactly where I'm at. Now is the perfect time to make the jump to an elite proven coach before the program takes a nose dive. But we all know we don't have the leadership at the top.

Come on. Vandy threw for over 400 yards last night. KNack and Tuttle together won't offset the loss of Barnett next year with regard to the pass rush. The Secondary is awful and don't see an offseason changing that. The DTs we've been using have been 5 stars, so no, this isn't just a "getting the DTs back will make everything ok again," situation.

I think this one is going to take longer than the normal 2-3 days for the sunshine to return.

I say Ron shows up later today and says he is done with cbj.

Then by Monday of next week this board starts to use the injury narrative again as reason to really the troops.

By the following Monday, Ron will be telling us how Tenn fans are going get exactly what the deserve with butch leaving and we just don't know how lucky we are to have had him.

2 weeks tops and all order will be restored with those few still living in reality will be trolls again.

I'm confident in saying if the 10 million buyout was handed over, the UT brass would send Butch packing. After an AD was named of course. Him getting another year to flop is about the cash and that's it.

after trey commits and bowl selection imo, the clouds will clear out.

The secondary has been injury ravished but it's also been bad all year and was bad the year before against teams that tested them. It's why a lot of us have been calling for a new secondary coach all season. You protect your secondary by getting pressure up front no pressure = bad secondaries get burnt for 400 by Vandy. There's nothing special about Vandy and last night ever since we hit critical mass on the injury front our defense wasn't stopping anyone and we have several games of stats to prove it. Any team in the country will put up huge numbers against this D right now. Pick one and they'll do it.

Lower expectations could be a boon next year. The team was not blaming Butch. Some of you need to get out of Memeville.

I don't know why people are talking bout him leaving. He's not going to. He has next season and his seat will be hot as hell. Best path forward is to still spend the money we were going to on assistant changes and try our damndest to have a great season despite the messed up nature of this one. If he fails we should at least be in a decent position to 1. show that we did support the coach in his hires which goes a long way in hiring the next one and 2. entertain much better candidates.

That's what our new AD needs to do whenever we get one and step one might be oh finally hiring one. It's not a plan that feels good but I believe it's our best way forward. LSU fell victim to what happens when you undermine the coach you have or play games with employment (the year before) while looking for a new one. You have to support real efforts while they're in your employ as counter intuitive as that sounds to fans because no coach wants to go into a place thinking that if he screws up one season his employer will make it impossible for him to succeed the next.

Not being argumentative, but exactly how supportive is UT supposed to be? For four years, CBJ has had carte blanche to hire anyone he wanted and run his system however he deemed best. UT shielded him on the Title IX issues and settled a lawsuit to diffuse the negativity around the football program. He's been given the highest recruiting budget in the country to bring in his own handpicked players and is the 18th highest paid HC in America. He was given $1M to hire Shoop to upgrade the defense and has been allowed to manage his program with minimal interference. He has been given every resource he needed and every chance to succeed. UT won't fire him this year, but there's only so much the university can do to position a coach for success.
