That was the info I was looking for. Been a big Dantonio fan for a while. Just looking on the surface without having any in depth info about that program, I was concerned about the drop off they had this year after Narduzzi left.

:hi:
Just checked, it's actually 3 big ten titles

Not sure anybody knows what happened to this program this year... and not sure it matters now. What we need is the best path forward. I don't see how CBJ staying benefits anyone. Joe DiP won't fire him and a lame duck coach will have trouble recruiting and staffing. No quality coordinators and position coaches will come here to work for a short-termer who has created an adversarial relationship with the media and fanbase.

I don't know why people are talking bout him leaving. He's not going to. He has next season and his seat will be hot as hell. Best path forward is to still spend the money we were going to on assistant changes and try our damndest to have a great season despite the messed up nature of this one. If he fails we should at least be in a decent position to 1. show that we did support the coach in his hires which goes a long way in hiring the next one and 2. entertain much better candidates.

That's what our new AD needs to do whenever we get one and step one might be oh finally hiring one. It's not a plan that feels good but I believe it's our best way forward. LSU fell victim to what happens when you undermine the coach you have or play games with employment (the year before) while looking for a new one. You have to support real efforts while they're in your employ as counter intuitive as that sounds to fans because no coach wants to go into a place thinking that if he screws up one season his employer will make it impossible for him to succeed the next.

Our athletic dept is the worst run In the country. I'm coming to realization that our school might be.as a whole the worst run managed in the country

Hes been looking around. Rumored that his wife is unhappy. He's unhappy. He has checked out. Left those kids at the podium last night tells me all I need to know about his investment in this program. Don't know for sure he walks but it wouldn't shock me either.

Lol. This entire board is nothing but trolls per your own definitions.

I can't believe you guys didn't do the Shoop ba-doop all night last night on second ave.

That John Jancek guy sure did.

What about this season makes you think next year, with the talented players we are losing, and the crappy coaches we will inevitably get for a lame duck season, will be any better?

Now is not the time for this. I hope that you get that, but it's you, so I doubt it.

This is how I feel as well.

Just counting SEC games, Tennessee is 2nd in total points, and T-12 in points against.

Fire Shoop, keep DeBoard?

That's the thing about Debo. This fanbase has never given him a chance because they wanted a sexy name or hire regardless of production yet the results of his two seasons here are outstanding. Yeah we've had our issues but we'd be hard pressed to find someone who could've done better with what he had and the problems faced.

Shoop, otoh, has been awful this year and ironically he was exactly the kind of sexy name hire that made everyone happy when he was hired. Now, given the injuries and his past records I give Shoop a pass on the year but if he didn't have such a good record of past achievement he'd be fired yesterday and rightly so but as it stands he's earned the benefit of the doubt.

If several assistants do leave, I just don't see the point in keeping CBJ around.

Butch is going to be let go eventually; no one worth a damn will come here to coach alongside him.

I highly doubt any one in the SEC had the toughest schedule in the country. The conference is craptastic this year. Not because everyone beat up on each other, but because aside from one school, the talent level is comparatively down and coaching is the definition of mediocre.

A lot of people are stuck in this narrative that the SEC is too tough. There's actually a huge opportunity here. There are no scary coaches left except Saban, and he's not getting younger.

NCAA claims TN was the toughest:

I would fully support a staff that included major changes on defense. Either change Shoop or allow him to hire his own staff works for me.
The offense staff should remain exactly where it is. It was a very successful year offensively.

The linebacker coach for South Florida? His team going to the Sugar Bowl instead?

Josh Malone is now 5th in the SEC in receiving yards, 4th at the WR position. Tied for 2nd in TD's.
Jauan Jennings is 20th in receiving yards among WR. He is tied for 8th in TD's.

Derek Barnett is 1st in sacks with a 2 sack lead.
Vereen is tied for 14th.

Dobbs is 4th (will pass Chad Kelly, but will likely be passed by Hurts due to extra games) in passing yards, 1st in Passing TD's, 2nd in YPC, 1st in rating, 2nd in comp percentage, tied for most INT.

All this is from ESPN. Back to holding CBJ to the fire.

We've been wanting and predicting that several would leave all season long. To say that no one is going to come here that is a better OL coach than Mahoney or a better secondary coach than Martinez or a better LB coach than Thig is absurd.
