In fairness to the Butch blaming, he's in year 4 so pretty much everything that happens, good or bad, is on him at this point. He's recruited and developed all these players and hired all the assistants so if any of them screw up he shares some blame. The question is just if 8-3 is good enough with this team, not whether Butch is to blame.
I realized something yesterday that's hard to fathom, if the team closes with a win over Vandy and a bowl win, that would be UT's best winning % in a season since 2004. You'd have to go back to 2001 to find a better winning %.
Then compare that to UGA and LSU who basically fired their coaches for consistently turning in 10 win seasons.
So on the one hand, it's progress, on the other hand it's not good enough for the SEC. All that assumes UT closes with 2 wins, which is far from certain.
He had to build the team from the ground up because the cupboard was bare, so he definitely gets credit for that. I think he could be a Fulmer and hire some good coordinators and be right up there with the best. He just has to find the right ones.
Just getting settled in after going to the game, and here is what I saw.
1. Idk how it looked on tv, but our interior lineman are lost pre-snap. The DE and LB are constantly have to put them in the right gap.
2. Our alignment looks way too spread out. There is a TON of space in the middle.
3. The linebackers really struggle to get lined up as well.
4. They did quit showing the LSU/UF score in the stadium.
5. I feel like I say this every time I go but Dobbs looks even faster in person than on tv.
6. The offense was really fun to watch yesterday.
Lol The RF says
Bob Shoop has done one hell of a job.
We love playing games where we have to score 40 to win.
Anybody that says otherwise is a troll.
This season has so many similarities to Cuonzo martin's last basketball team. Fans bailed on him early for failing to play consistently and beat everyone fans thought they should. He rights the ship, takes them to the sweet sixteen and they play Michigan to the wire. Season ends and Cuonzo bolts, sick of working hard for a fanbase that enjoys crucifiying its coaches more than it does cheering on its team
If we win out and win the sugar bowl, coach jones may look like a good commodity.
Would he bolt, middle finger in the air ?
Be interesting to see the fiasco of a coaching hire without stability at ad. If any fanbase deserves that I think certain elements of ours does. We have way to many complainers. I'm not sure which seasons in the past 15 years spoiled our fans so much.
