Sorry for off topic but the district court stayed the release of Brendan Dassey today, meaning it won't happen unless the State loses its appeal.

Disappointed.

Saftey without Kelly JR.

I'm confused as to why we would likely go Abernathy/Griffin this weekend as is rumored instead of trying to get best 5 on the field.

My preference would be Warrior/Abernathy but considering Butch refuses to let the most talented player in our secondary play valuable minutes because he coaches scared. I would at least think they would take a look at Sutton/Moseley at CB, Foreman at Nickle, Gaulden/Abernathy at S. That seems like the best group if you don't count Warrior.

I'm so salty about Warrior crap. Dude makes plays others can't in limited action. its ridiculous. Butch should blame himself for the S Carolina TD. Warrior plays earlier in season like he would have already cleaned that up. Wasting a 3 year player your only going to get to see for 2 actual playing years.

It has been frustrating. Comes in for half a quarter twice and leads the team in tackles. He can play

Thoughts on recruiting class?

Some good thoughts, some bad ones.

I think we have some very good players in this class. Ty Chandler is great. Crosby, the Gaddy twins, Murphy, Page, Ignont all look good. I think Bailey is a nice corner and is overlooked on here. Some other guys have nice upside, like Gray, Calbert, Brown.

We also have some some guys who I'm not high on personally. In general, I think we don't recruit enough elite talent in the secondary... getting Gibbs and Wade would help a lot but I'd still like to bring in more guys capable of dominating on the perimeter.

Losing Higgins and Stevens sucks. Stevens I get... sometimes guys just don't feel you, that's okay. But Higgins was a guy from our backyard who liked us but got yanked by Clemson. I don't care if they paid him... Pay him more.

The last few months are important. We're in on several very good players. If we close strong, this class is good. But there's a lot of work left to do.

Took the boat downtown to the Vol Navy last week. It was a small -- but enthusiastic -- gathering. :)

We watched the game from my boat and listed to the cheers and fireworks each time we scored. Awesome time.

Hello all. Hope everyone is primed ands ready for the holidays and some championship football. Just thought I would share a little bit of my opinion and the news I've heard lately.
I know that many (including me) have expressed disappointment in how some things have played out this season. After all is said and done though, we are very likely going to go to Atl and play the Tide again for a SEC championship. That's the goal every year, to get to Atl and play for the conference and then let the national scene take care of itself. I know that most have it as a forgone conclusion that Bama will destroy us again and I can absolutely see that happening. However, anything can happen in one game and we are going to be healthy up front to some degree on offense and I know that the boys are really excited to change the perception after that beat down earlier this year. Don't sleep on the Vols if we make it.
Josh Dobbs will make an NFL roster as something other than a QB. I know that he has alot of value in the eyes of alot of teams because of his upside as a receiver. I'm not sure if people understand how athletic Joshua is. He will test well in every category that NFL teams look for. Who knows, with the right situation, he could develop into a NFL QB. He's just got too much to offer, if he wants that opportunity, to pass up.
I also know that recruiting is down in the eyes of some but there are some really athletic guys already in the class and we are in very good shape with Smith, Moore and Akers to a lesser degree. I also believe that there will be a shakeup on both sides of the ball in the coaching staff before NSD that could impact this class in a very positive way. This class will look different on NSD than it does presently.
I believe that we have an opportunity to have one of the most athletic offensive lines that we've seen here in awhile next season. We will be experienced and long at tackle, have an NFL center and be very solid and deep at both guard positions. Growing pains with the zone scheme we've ran this year will pay off next and we've already seen some big dividends this year against A&M and Kentucky. There's an extremely good chance that there will be a new OL coach next season but the blocking scheme won't change that much. That's a good thing IMO. This team can run the ball, especially with Dobbs, Kamara and Kelly carrying the load. I try not to be a told you so kind of guy but I have said for a very long time that this offense would be better suited to feature Kamara over the other guy. If we are going to win championships, it will be in large part because we can run the ball on any scheme. We have the pieces to do just that.
Rich Rodriguez, unless something drastically changes, will not be at Tennesse if/when he is let go at Arizona. He still wants to be a HC and he also would be interested in being an analyst if that opportunity became available. I do believe that there is a very good chance that Debord will not be sole OC next year. We will have a full time QB coach who I believe will also have a coordinator tag as well.
Bob Shoop is still a top 5 defensive coordinator despite our inconsistencies this season. He will have some coaches of his own choosing here next season and I believe that will help tremendously with his scheme implementation. It was a very big mistake, in my estimation, that he was not allowed to hire his own staff when he was brought in. This is not an easy scheme to learn but once it's fully implemented, it is very effective and produces turnovers and field changing plays. Be patient, he will be better.
Blackburn is ready to hit the ground running. It will be a major upset if he isn't named the AD sometime mid December. He and Butch have a good relationship already and he will absolutely help Butch become a better Tennessee football coach. I'm actually excited to see the difference that he will make with the overall tone of the program. We are about to enter a golden era of leadership in Tennessee athletics with him at the helm. He will be invaluable when is time to hire a new head coach in any sport. He's a Tennessee man through and through.
For whatever his failings may be, Butch Jones is the absolute best option for Tennessee football for the foreseeable future. Anyone wanting to start over after an SEC East first place finish is delusional at worst and unrealistic. We aren't going to get a Saban, Meyer type hire here because we aren't going to pay someone 6+million to come here. I have doubts about Butch but doubts are proven wrong every day. I've overcome doubts that others have had about me all of my life. I'm willing to be open minded about Butch. He's got a ton of what you want in a champion. Thanks for reading! Vols 41-Tigers 24. GBO!

Since this is Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXX can we post adult content?

I'm working on a new strategy for my retirement account. My health insurance premiums are going up so I have to adjust the budget again. I worry about this drought affecting the root structure of my lawn.

Is that too adult?
