This... is pretty surprising, actually. This dude would have been in the mix for major reps next year. He would have had to battle CFA and some freshmen for the backup role, and at that point you're a pulled hammy or sprained ankle away from seeing a lot of snaps.

Nonetheless, if he's leaving on good terms then I wish him the best. Still don't like this new trend of guys bouncing midseason though. Wonder if this was entirely his decision.

I don't see our coaching staff pushing him to leave mid season since we're now down to 3 scholarship RBs.

I don't know if the NCAA ever clarified on the rumor that by leaving early enough in the season Bamas QB was able to save a season of eligibility by transferring down to a JUCO immediately, but if that's true I can kinda understand leaving early even if I don't agree with it.

But in cases like this I really don't understand at all.

I really hate these midseason transfers. Players just stop showing up to practice, then announce they're transferring. IDK if it's a quitter mentality or a sign that we have internal issues, but this is #3 in the past month, not counting Cleatgate.

Our 4th string RB wouldn't know this. Not sure why the coaches took Lewis in the first place. They should've hung on to Bussey.

One had nothing to do with the other...Bussey was bumped for KELLY...last season.

other thread talking about Janzen Jackson in the prison system and may still be awaiting trial-- made me think, what is the latest on A.J.??

You're right-- that didn't make sense. What I meant was, we've been down a RB since Bussey wouldn't GS. Coaches wanted both Bussey and Kelly. Adding Lewis late last year finally brought our RB count to 5, which is where CBJ said he wanted it. That's a circuitous way of trying to make my point, I know.

On Jeremy Lewis...

"Jeremy Lewis was not a walk on. He was on scholarship. So he wasn't promised anything he didn't get or anything like that.

He hasn't signed transfer papers and I don't know what his transfer move is or where he is academically to know what all his options are. He simply has quit the team at this point."

And then more from Hubbs...

"Hearing that he will likely head back home or closer to home for personal reasons. It's unclear what his football plans are at this point."

Unless a family member has health issues and he is needed immediately at home, I don't get quitting this close to the end of the season. He couldn't show up for a few more games?

Blake Barnett opened Pandora's Box. We all knew nothing good would come out of it.

Players quitting mid-season.
Protests in the streets because their side didn't win.
Innumerable and endless hateful and awful comments towards other human beings online and through social media.

Man, isn't this new era of enlightenment so awesome! /sarcasm
