This is why the average fan grinds my gears. I remember back in 2004 when we were 7-1 and had Notre Dame at home that year. Ainge was in his freshman year at QB. We were leading 10-7 at the half. Notre Dame had not moved the ball well up to that point in the game. We had the ball on our own 20 with under 30 seconds. Instead of taking a knee or running a dive play, Fulmer and Randy Sanders drop Ainge back to chunk one down the field. He gets drilled, injures his throwing shoulder and is out for the year. It wasn't until Ainge's junior year working with Cutcliffe were he resembled the QB he was before that play. Fans griped and complained about that play, and rightfully so. My point is you can't win with the masses. Their limited capacity only allows them to think in the here and now and not in the future. And in Saturday's case, the 2nd half were we got the ball after halftime. There is a reason coaches have the jobs they do, and fans get drunk and scream.
And if you recall the week before, Brent Schaeffer got injured in a similar matter at South Carolina. I was at both games. In two weeks we lost both freshmen QB's trying to squeeze in something before half.
You can't win the game before halftime, but you sure can lose it.
