'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

This is why the average fan grinds my gears. I remember back in 2004 when we were 7-1 and had Notre Dame at home that year. Ainge was in his freshman year at QB. We were leading 10-7 at the half. Notre Dame had not moved the ball well up to that point in the game. We had the ball on our own 20 with under 30 seconds. Instead of taking a knee or running a dive play, Fulmer and Randy Sanders drop Ainge back to chunk one down the field. He gets drilled, injures his throwing shoulder and is out for the year. It wasn't until Ainge's junior year working with Cutcliffe were he resembled the QB he was before that play. Fans griped and complained about that play, and rightfully so. My point is you can't win with the masses. Their limited capacity only allows them to think in the here and now and not in the future. And in Saturday's case, the 2nd half were we got the ball after halftime. There is a reason coaches have the jobs they do, and fans get drunk and scream.

And if you recall the week before, Brent Schaeffer got injured in a similar matter at South Carolina. I was at both games. In two weeks we lost both freshmen QB's trying to squeeze in something before half.

You can't win the game before halftime, but you sure can lose it.

I had forgot about the Schaeffer injury. Validates the strategy to run out the clock to end the half even more.

Yet the Hail Mary that Casey Clausen threw against Florida in 2003 on the last play before the half gave us a tidal wave of momentum.

I think it's fair to say that every situation is different, and running out the clock isn't the right move 100% of the time, and going for the score isn't the right move 100% of the time.

Don't know how OV got 'burned' by this kid. But the information he has brought over the years ranks with the best of them. I don't know if money changed hands. But when someone credible implies that's what he is hearing, I'm at least listening.

This.

Apples and oranges. Clausen hit James Banks with about a 50 yard Hail Mary. We weren't starting on our own 20. Big difference.

Just like having over a minute with a couple timeouts is different than Ainge heaving it downfield.

Nothing wrong with trying to get into field goal range in Saturday's situation. But, it's over and we won.

Do you ever get tired of your own bullsh!t?

How's this instead - the Vols keep winning and maybe recruits that that showed interest before will take a harder look. Florida was great, but going 2-1(3-0 would be great) in these next 3 games will definitely grab attention.

Completely different situations, scenarios, and field position.

Anyone else watching the Clemson game cheering for Louisville??!

Aside from Tee, who is committed and seemingly long gone, we are in competition with them for a number of recruits..With FSU tanking a bit this season, Clemson can walk away in the ACC with a win today and into the playoffs..
