'17 TN OT Obinna Eze (Memphis commit)

Offers from Bama, UF, LSU, UT...

And picks Memphis..

Saban, McElwain, Les, and Butch have all fallen off in recruiting. Especially Butch since this was an instate player. Those schools will be lucky to finish with classes in the 35-40 range. They might never sniff a national championship amongst the four of them again.

Ha. Just taking a stab, because it does raise eyebrows, but maybe when it came down to it the coach at Memphis seemed a little more concerned about Obinna the person, than the meat market SEC coaches? Playing time could of factored too? Who knows...

Good luck to him!

No doubt a very strange choice whether you look at it from a football or academic standpoint, but we all knew this was coming.

He wants to play early and he wouldn't see the field until year 3 with the major offers. Remember this guy has yet to take a varsity snap in HS.

Norvell has shown to be a great recruiter so far. Their class is much better than its normal rankings.

That said, as others have stated, Eze was going to need a couple of years of development.

Those offers were commitable, but as mentioned he is very raw but has a great upside. Remember he was originally a basketball player when he came from Nigeria.

Better Memphis than an Sec school. It's not as crazy of an pick if you think of current direction of that program. Fuentes got it rolling. Norvell is a great offensive coach. Uniforms are pretty slick. Rumors of joining big 12 and facility upgrades. Starter day 1 probably instead of waiting until Jr. year.

Didn't see the word "please". POLITE recruiting experts utilize that word. :wink2:

Wished we could have landed Eze but he is a raw prospect who has yet to play a down of varsity football.

I can't remember the last time we lost a recruit to Memphis.

If Butch had not landed Ty today then this would have looked really bad.

Good decision by Eze. He will start Day 1 at Memphis High. We are gonna land Trey so no hard feelings here:)
