Yup. Trevor is easily the best Punter in the SEC. Easily. The other two are good, but Trevor made one of the most clutch punts I've ever seen in the UGA game.

I do think last year has some bearing, but the entire point of preseason is extrapolation from the year before. It's entirely up to interpretation. That was my point.

Once again, context. Hurd was running behind one of the worst OL's two years ago and Dobbs has taken over 1,000 yards since 2014. Put Hurd behind Georgia's OL and he puts up similar numbers.

Alabama is the best opposition possible and about as close to an NFL defense as a player will see in college.

I don't think there's a better team to compare players than against Alabama.

Just watch Chubb vs Alabama and compare that to Hurd vs Alabama. Yes Chubb had a 80 yarder in garbage time that made his stat line look good at the end of the game. However, for 3 and a half quarters he was totally ineffective. Hurd was consistently good against Alabama which helped us be more competitive.

Give me a Jalen Hurd who gets 4-5 yards every touch than a guy who losses yards all day but busts a 80 yard run in garbage time.

Hurd had 92 yards in that game. 29 came on the final play before the half when Butch was just trying to run out the clock. Take that garbage run away and he had 63 yards or 3.7 yards a carry. If he had top end speed maybe he busts that run for a TD.

Actually, ESPN ranked Georgia's offensive line the 10th best in the conference in 2014 and UT's 13th, the year in which Chubb was healthy for a full year and amassed over 1500 yards. And in 2015, ESPN had the lines ranked 5th and 6th respectively. So both backs have run behind very similar lines and so the notion that Chubb had a all-world line to run behind to rack up his numbers is just false.

Again, Georgia did not have a QB running for 1,000+ yards over those two years. Obviously Chubb and Michel were the only ones getting the ball. Hurd is just as good a back as Chubb. I can't believe it, but I agree with D4H on this one.

All I've done is present numbers and facts to backup my opinions and all you're doing is changing the criteria for why you think Hurd is better. If you just want to go on your gut instinct to say that Hurd is better than Chubb then more power to you.

I don't mind Hurd being rated second team pre-season. I think last year the 1st team was Fournette and Chubb, and 2nd team was Derrick Henry. It worked out OK for him.

I haven't changed my criteria at all, Georgia had a better OL and didn't have a mobile QB eating up yards. I've said this the entire time. Hurd would have similar numbers in a system like Richt ran, plain and simple.

Two completely different systems regardless so hard to compare anyways,

You can believe what you want, I can believe what I want. The common denominator is that we are Vol fans and want our players to be the best they can be.

I agree, but all this preseason crap is a joke. If I have my choice, I would rather Hurd get his 1st team spot after the season is over.

If this gives him one more ounce of motivation, so much the better.
