Because that too would be a cop out. When your country comes knocking because they need you, you answer the door. Not run and hide. That's cowardly.

You can't be serious.

Ali was widely regarded as a global humanitarian and a recognized UN Goodwill Ambassador.

Sure, let's overlook the fact he was a racist, a piece of sh** to women, didn't even acknowledge some of his children, and tried to ruin Joe Frasier after he went way out his way to help Ali. Other than that he's a great guy.

Also, somewhat ironically, Islam is a religion of peace. It would seem
Many extremist ignore this, I guess.

Ummm, yea it was. Americans killed on the Lusitania....Zimmerman telegram...educate yourself.

Edit: not to mention, WWI was the war that proved that War is hell and young men are sent to die to settle scores created by old rich men. Not a great example.

I'm educated sir. The Lusitania was a British ship that happened to have 128 Americans on it. Britain was already at war. the U.S. joining was also an unpopular decision, but we probably saved countless innocent lives by entering. Either way. Ali is an icon, but I still wouldn't consider him a great human being.

Then we are agreeing. You kill Americans, and then try to bring Mexico in by offering spoils of victory over America, get ready for the hammer.

Oh, and yea I realize the Zimmerman Telegram was potentially pro-war American propaganda.

A racist? He viewed America as it viewed him during Jim Crow and segregation. Ali in his 20&30s wasn't Ali at 50 +.

Everyone is racist to some extent. Especially people who lived in that era.

Not to take a jab, but you can't call someone a coward for not answering a country's call when said country is responsible for 5 million people having deformities due to an untested chemical.

This is kind of the version I've always heard of him. He wasn't a good person from everything I've read over the years.
