The Minimum Wage: What's the Big Deal?

What percentage of fly slingers would you say fit that category?

Even a fry cook at McDonalds has access to benefits like insurance and a 401K. But the kicker is most of these people whining about being poor and not having benefits..actually decline to participate in those programs.

There's quite a difference between working for and being paid by a government and simply receiving government benefits - particularly unearned government benefits. I have a particularly hard time dealing with criticism for military service, though. Perhaps it is bias; because in my family it is what we did; and, yeah, I'd have to say that it means someone who served in the military was willing to risk his or her life for anyone here. I'll just leave it there. There's much more to say, but I honestly don't know how.

I respect the military and think that any military member or veteran reserves an esteemed position in our society for their service (I stress, for their service; respect for anything else they must deserve).

I do not, however, think that it allows an individual's opinions on essentially all others using government funds to be inviolable or to give an individual's opinions on such use more merit. I do see a hypocrisy, although I never expected my perspective to be a popular one here.

I thought somewhat about joining the military myself, when I was in high school, but the call was never strong enough with me personally. If I thought, however, that it would have meant one day making my position on the public use of public money unassailable, I would have given it even deeper consideration.

Who has time to pay for their own benefits?

Welfare recipients = military cuz duh fed N'stuff.

He's gone full retard.

Indeed. Welfare queens, baby mommas, crackwhores, drug addicts, Obamaphone-lovers, and ruthless illegal alien drug lords, otherwise known as your notion of the only people who make use of government assistance, are indeed equal to our military members.

Indeed.

Say, you given any thought yet about which part of the Alaskan wilderness, where you can drink in true freedom everyday like salmon flocking upstream to give birth, you might fancy most?

I'm telling you, man. Alaska, she calls! Just like a tourism commercial.

You cracker barrel philosophers also need to learn how to read. Reading comprehension isn't very strong with you all.

Further, why are you associating being a cracker barrel philosopher, such as yourself, with being "Southern." Are all people who go to the Cracker Barrel "Southern" in your opinion?

Stop stereotyping Cracker Barrel patrons.

Oh, lord, you love it. Your life would lose all meaning without some "libtard" to blame for everything.

Nancy Pelosi gives structure to your life.

At Cal Berkley, you have homeless people living in your trees. Your liberal students bring them food and carry away their body waste because "they care". Even those homeless people laugh at them.

Don't even try to deny it. Saw it with my own eyes when the Big Orange played there.

And tell me. Did they save those oak trees? :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

So what happens when unskilled labor is making the minimum wage at $15/hour and skilled labor is just making slightly over?

skilled labor will see no incentive for working at their current pay, so we will basically be incentivizing everyone to be unskilled labor

Has anyone ever asked him what his "connection" to UT is?

I was trying to figure out what in the heck your weird, unrelated comment about me making fun of Southerners (you know, the one were you stereotyped both Southerners and Cracker Barrel patrons in response to my post that had nothing to do with Southerners or Cracker Barrel patrons, or whoever it was you were referring to), as if I'm from somewhere else or something. This post may explain it. I take it you only started posting here relatively recently.

And when you account for taxes and work related expense, neither is doing as well as a welfare queen?
