Wow. I was under the impression he had taken a turn for the better.

My condolences to the family. He will be missed around here. We lost a fantastic poster. I hope his family, like us here on VN, can find solace that his pain and suffering is gone.

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. Thank you for posting to let us know. By all accounts he was a strong, kind, and thoughtful man.

Gramps was one of the best at supporting his convictions about any subject while keeping the conversation civil and actually listening and trying to understand other points of view. I wish that I had known him in real life.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I am certainly going to miss his posts.

Man, lump in my throat on this one. Very sad to log on and hear Gramps has passed. Gramps was a fine man, always appreciated his perspective. Prayers for Gramps and his family.

Damn. Thoughts and Prayers to the family. I hate to hear this, he was a VN great and he will be missed by all. I just wish he could have met some of us to give us a hard time in real life too.

Terribly sorry to hear this. He was a man of strong conviction and admirably stood up for the things he believed. He will be missed and this community will not be the same without him.

RIP Gramps. Just logged on today & saw this terrible news. I'm so sorry to hear this bad news today. Gramps will be missed on VN.

RIP gramps. I guess it wasn't unexpected but that doesn't make it hurt any less. He was truly one of our best and most fair posters in this weird politics forum family. If I ever become half the man he was I'll consider it a victory.

and somehow start it at post 339 -- it was really kind and thoughtful of Gramps to ask his family to remember us all

Obsessed texted me and let me know. I can only muster the words to iterate what has already been expressed. Gramps was obviously a man who loved God, his family, UT, and interaction on this message board. It means so much that he requested his son make a farewell post on his behalf if he was called to his great reward.

Thank you, Gramps for the fun. You were one of a kind. This place won't be the same without you.

God Bless Gramps' family.
