Gramps final thread

I always enjoyed Gramps posts, he was very well spoken and considerate.

It always sucks when someone gets cancer because it seems that they always get better for a while and then it really comes back with a vengeance.

Godspeed Gramps!

Shed a tear or three hearing this. Prayers to the family. Just know he's in an awesome place where the Vols are champs every day. God bless the family.

Gramps brought a level of civility to this dysfunctional politics forum that will be sorely missed. I can only imagine the loss his family is feeling right now.

My father, Gramps made me promise him I would make this post for him in the event something should happen to him.
With great sorrow I must report that my dad is no longer with us. He fought a hard battle, in the end the cancer won.
My dad said he did not know anyone on this forum on a personal level but stated he had made some great friends here.
I ask that you please remember Granny and our family in your prayers.

He ask to to sign this post as:
Go Big Orange.
Gramps out.

i'm really sorry for your loss...RIP Gramps
it's amazing how news of someone you've never met personally could cause such a feeling of sadness, when hearing this news

Absolutely stunned at learning this news. Gramps was a great man who loved his family, faith, buttermilk and VOLS. VN has lost a legend in the politics forum and it will never be the same. Sorry for your loss.

Buttermilk toast to you Gramps, RIP my friend.

Such sad news for anyone who knew Gramps -even if it was just through a message board. He was truly a sincere person. I pray for his family and pray for his eternal rest. RIP Gramps

I am very sad about this. I felt like I knew Gramps even though I never met him in person. Your dad will be very missed around here. He was a great guy. RIP Gramps!

Sorry to hear. I don't post much during the offseason but always lurk. In a time where loons are constantly in the media it is a good reminder we still have great men in this country.

I did not always agree with gramps but he loved Jesus, America, his wife and the Vols.

On that we will always be the same

Hate to see this, RIP Gramps you will be missed. We could always have disagreements and keep it respectable, did not know the man but its clear he had integrity and very classy.

The beagle will forever be at his computer and enjoying his cup of coffee in my mind.

I'm sorry to hear the bad news, but I got the strong impression from Gramps in this last year or so that he was a man fully prepared for this outcome and at peace with himself and the world. I hope his family is equally at peace.

Thanks to Gramps' son/daughter for letting us know. Taking the time to share this information, as hard as it may be at the moment, has saved a lot of anxiety for us had we been left to constantly wonder why Gramps was no longer posting.

Nicely put.

Devastating to hear this news. May Gramps rest in peace. There is no doubt in my mind that he made the lives of everyone he encountered a bit brighter with his radiating kindness and rationality.

If the family sees this, it would be great if you could post a picture of Gramps. I'm very curious. Thanks.

After making the rounds in this forum today it occurred to me that he was the most level-headed poster. He had his beliefs and always stuck to his guns but I don't remember him "Getting into it" with anyone. We need more people like him.

I will miss Gramps - VolNation family members may never see each other in person but we are family in our own weird way. Hugs to you, Granny and all.

Wish I knew a few more details about his funeral. I would donate flowers or to a charity in his memory

Would Gramps family members mind posting the link to his funeral/obituary on here? I am sure several posters would love to leave a nice message about him. Again, my prayers to his family. Gramps was a good man. RIP Gramps!
