2016 Election

@BillKristol

People close to Trump tell people who tell me that after Tuesday, Trump will say race is over and he won't participate in further debates.

Don't believe it happens because it would be suicide but we'll see.

Hillary Clinton is essentially just more of the same that we've had since FDR, which is why I always scratch my head when people go on rants about how she and Obama are trying to fundamentally change America.

Trump's presidency would largely be tempered by Congress and the Court, but the thing that worries me most about a Trump presidency is his foreign policy, which Congress would have relatively little authority to curtail, outside of a declaration of war. I think a Trump presidency would be an absolute disaster for American international status, despite his statements about how we shouldn't get involved in the Middle East. He will alienate so many nations - allies, potential allies, and adversaries alike - that you could probably kiss our privileged world status goodbye.

The issue/concerns with Hillary isn't the things that we know she might do, it's the things she will do that she doesn't want us to know about. She has proven to be a congenital liar, to circumvent normal government protocols when it benefits her, and is one of the most corrupt politicians to ever serve. She scares me much more than Bill ever did. Crap... even Bill's afraid of her.

You bet against anything Trump will or won't do?

Pretty soon we'll be declaring him God-Emperor. Trump transcends everything political commentators thought they knew.

If this actually happens the outrage will be thick - but it won't impede Trump one bit in the primaries.

Lest you forget who is hosting and moderating the next debate...

Poor Trump, getting owned by a girl.

The media has been building Trump as if he is the God King Xerxes himself.

With the exception of Fox, the media wants Trump to win. As individuals perhaps not, but as organizations, like CNN, ABC, etc., they do.

Can you imagine the opportunities a Trump presidency would give the media? Would be a 24/7 clown show, overflowing with tons of drama and dumbassery to constantly draw our attention to the news networks. They'd all suddenly be relevant again, simply because the average American decides he has to tune in again tonight to see the latest dumb thing Trump has done.

It just reminds me of what they did to him in the 80s. They built him up only to tear him down when the time comes.

Trump is no longer 80s Trump though. He's a reality TV star now. He now provides ratings that are far too precious to squander.

However, if you are referring to what they may do to him after winning the presidency, then, yeah, I suppose I could see that.

And I should say that it isn't that the media isn't critical of Trump; it's just that they willingly provide him with so much unpaid airtime that it's hard to think they aren't actually hoping for him to win (or at least go against Hillary in the national election). The media is the only reason why Trump has made it even this far. Without the media, his campaign would have never made it past the first few debates.

Whomever the Republican president is, the Media will be very negative with him every day, and the more conservative he is, the harsher the treatment of him will be.

Trump though, just like Reagan, may be able to connect directly with the people, and rise above the media criticism and have a successful presidency.

What has surprised me about Trump, just in the last couple of weeks, is Trump picking up the endorsement of a moderate New Jersey governor, and the endorsements of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and Senator Jeff Sessions. Both Cruz and Rubio would have loved to have those endorsements.

Sherif Joe surprised you? And to be clear that guy is a moron too:

Rubio would Absotively love to have the endorsement of Senator Jeff Sessions for damn sure. With Rubio's co-sponsorship of the GANG OF EIGHT BILL that continues to haunt him, you would have to be a fool not to want that endorsement.

The Jeff Sessions endorsement actually means something.

So does Jesse Ventura's endorsement of Trump.
