Hillary Clinton is essentially just more of the same that we've had since FDR, which is why I always scratch my head when people go on rants about how she and Obama are trying to fundamentally change America.
Trump's presidency would largely be tempered by Congress and the Court, but the thing that worries me most about a Trump presidency is his foreign policy, which Congress would have relatively little authority to curtail, outside of a declaration of war. I think a Trump presidency would be an absolute disaster for American international status, despite his statements about how we shouldn't get involved in the Middle East. He will alienate so many nations - allies, potential allies, and adversaries alike - that you could probably kiss our privileged world status goodbye.
Pretty soon we'll be declaring him God-Emperor. Trump transcends everything political commentators thought they knew.
If this actually happens the outrage will be thick - but it won't impede Trump one bit in the primaries.
The media has been building Trump as if he is the God King Xerxes himself.
With the exception of Fox, the media wants Trump to win. As individuals perhaps not, but as organizations, like CNN, ABC, etc., they do.
Can you imagine the opportunities a Trump presidency would give the media? Would be a 24/7 clown show, overflowing with tons of drama and dumbassery to constantly draw our attention to the news networks. They'd all suddenly be relevant again, simply because the average American decides he has to tune in again tonight to see the latest dumb thing Trump has done.
It just reminds me of what they did to him in the 80s. They built him up only to tear him down when the time comes.
Whomever the Republican president is, the Media will be very negative with him every day, and the more conservative he is, the harsher the treatment of him will be.
Trump though, just like Reagan, may be able to connect directly with the people, and rise above the media criticism and have a successful presidency.
What has surprised me about Trump, just in the last couple of weeks, is Trump picking up the endorsement of a moderate New Jersey governor, and the endorsements of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and Senator Jeff Sessions. Both Cruz and Rubio would have loved to have those endorsements.
