Alexis Johnson arrested (merged/updated 4/21)

Who recruited him? The facts are, if you have been convicted of crimes, there is a higher chance of you committing future crimes (convicted) than someone that has not. Recruiting those convicted of crimes should be off the table for UT-we should be better than that, our program is not a rehab center.
Bama did it last year. No one is above.

How many of y'all doubting me on Greg Isaacs getting the charge dropped have actually lived in Knoxville????

Word is that the criminal charges against Alexis will be dropped and that she's going to try and file a civil case with the 6 others.

He can sue if university doesnt treat him as he supposed to as well.

Hurd was just an underage age which is nothing IMO

So was butcher's, with the exception he decided to play in traffic. Dui (first offense), under age drinking, and simple possession are all misdemeanors. Thus, Hurd has the same "criminal past" as these. What's the difference for him in your eyes? I'm sincerely curious since your level of condemnation is different for Hurd.

Underage consumption is much less severe. Not even debatable with a DUI

Wondering around the highway is another level where others are in danger as well.

Simple possession is worth a debate I agree but none the less it's an illegal substance when alcohol isn't in tenn.

This thread is blah blah this blah blah that the real question is are we gonna have johnson at dt come week one or nah?

What am I missing? The news report indicated he punched his girlfriend and chocked her to the point she was going to pass out. Of course, I know you can't always believe what the "news" reports. But, if true there isn't a real debate about him coming back I wouldn't think. Has something else been reported indicating the news report isn't true?

Did the news reports say those things did take place, or were alleged to have taken place? Big difference. :shades:

Someone made a mention of the girl and witness involved in this alleged assault that they were probably going to join the lawsuit against UT. Today, a lawyer for the plaintiffs announced they are going to amend the lawsuit to add two additional "victims." Now, it might not be related to the Alexis situation, but I certainly have to wonder if it was a setup to get a payday if it does turn out to be related.

This is beyond out of hand

Before this is over there will be over 100 "girls" added to this lawsuit. It will take 10 years to settle. This same thing will happen at every major university. There is more than just money that is driving this.

Exactly. They've already established "The College Rape Culture" Before their done just talking to a girl will be a form of sexual assault.

They've alleged a culture of rape. Nothing has been proven. At this point, some people are in full on panic mode that something might be proven, but I just don't buy this culture exists. Are there some bad apples in the bunch? Most probably, but that doesn't establish a culture. Personally, I hope UT doesn't give in to the idea of settling to make it go away. That just opens the door for more litigation in the future while setting a precedence. I say fight it through and make the attorneys prove this culture actually exists. If they can prove it, and that's a big if, then we can set about fixing it. But again, I honestly don't buy into this culture existing.

They've established nothing. What they have done is assert that it exists. Modern feminism has been hijacked by extremists who, in public forums, have literally implied that heterosexual males should be put to death for simply being born that way. The fact that these people still get a platform or support of any kind is disturbing, but not at all surprising in today's political/social climate.

I reiterate from another post of mine, when sexual assault is the cool weekend activity, when it is encouraged, or people openly ignore it and say they don't care if it happens, then and only then will I believe "rape culture" exists. Until that day, it is simply another term for people to scream discrimination from the rooftops with dollar signs in their eyes, and to push their own personal agenda for how others should have to live. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't mistake this as me saying there is no a problem with sexual assault on campuses, as I believe there is, but it is not some mythical engrained culture or staple of life practiced by followers.

I'm not sure how this lawsuit should go, or what type of payout there would be if the plaintiffs get the ruling - one would surmise that each party would get equal portions (except for the friggin lawyer). Now brings up the question would adding more people to the suit basically force UT to fight?

I'm tired of these idiots putting themselves in these situations... and I mean the guys...
dumbasses... girls want you.. why do you have to mess with the ones that don't or beat on them
