Alexis Johnson arrested (merged/updated 4/21)

Underage drinking and drugging are common place in college.

Why should a fan base hold an athlete on a full ride scholarship to a higher standard than the rest of society?

Why should a coaching staff care?

Why should teammates care?

Drinking and drugging is not part of the plan for 1% improvement.

How many crimes and for how long does a person need to keep getting caught to be considered a criminal or considered to have a criminal past?

I wonder how CBJ addressed the first criminal acts and what expectations he set for him once on campus.

THIS is why you stay away from Jucos, guys not smart enough to get into UT (Harvard of the South? I wish.) in the first place! ;)

Already has a DUI since getting to campus

Are you sure? I heard Paul Fortenberry on 104.5 in Nashville an hour ago discussing the Johnnson situation. He was asked a lot of questions about Alexis, including one concerning whether or not Jones did the appropriate amount of due diligence in vetting him prior to getting him signed and on campus.....and Fortenberry said absolutely nothing about any past criminal record and certainly didn't mention that he has a DUI in the past 6-7 weeks. And when I google his name + DUI, nothing comes up about it....just about his current sexual assault accusation.

Good info

Would still have to be on probation for correct?

If so doesn't change my mind. He came here on a short lease and this does open up cbj for some criticism for bringing a kid to campus with a criminal past

Come on Bruin. Johnson had 17 offers. Is it likely that all those schools miss some vetting? One crime doesn't show a pattern or define a person. He absolutely deserved a chance here.

College kids are going to drink, that's just how life is. Everyone has done it and everyone has tried different stuff every now and then. Getting arrested once for something minor doesn't make you a criminal, it opens up your eyes and helps you by learning from your mistake (hopefully) I can't nag anyone for getting a DUI. I almost got one, one night. Got extremely lucky to get out of it. However I have learned that you should never ever drink and drive. It's senseless and reckless. If your buzzing and you hit someone and it kills them your going to jail for the rest of your life. It's not worth it. Since that night, it definitely opened my eyes and I will never ever drive drunk again. Hopefully the mistakes this man has made will turn him into a better person, you gotta use your brain and some common sense to get better and get away from that lifestyle. Best wishes to the young man.

Not that it really matters, but if there was a DUI it could be a charge that he was driving while impaired due to weed. Some areas use the same code as DUI when booking a suspect. No clue if penalties are same, impaired is still impaired

Perhaps you should read a little close

No where did I call him a criminal because of those arrest

Good grief

Little reading comprehension here. Recognize these words?
DUI with multiple charges including possession of drugs damn sure does make you have a criminal past

So thats not calling the kid a criminal? Hoo boy! And it was a 'simple possession" charge, that + a DUI
doesn't make you a criminal.

I think that's a DWI in Tennessee. Not 100% sure but I think that's what we label it here.

Also, I'm at WDW for the Glass Slipper Challenge races and on the jumbotron at the Jostens Center at wide world of sports they show Bob Ley doing his UT story, complete with Peyton, Crowder, and Alexis Johnson.

And I'm standing here in my orange polo...

Now where are all the clowns who wanted the kid dismissed yesterday?

We have due process for a reason folks. Sometimes the accused is actually innocent.

Right here butthead. I still maintain that something "rough" happened and that Alexis is freaking stupid for being involved in a situation this close to the Title IX BS. They need to be shining examples of tolerance at least until that freaking suit goes away. His inability to stay out of a questionable situation after being on campus a month leads me to believe he's going to be trouble.

I'm trying to keep up, but I'm still confused.

Charges are being dropped due to holes in her story, or she doesn't want to press charges?

Was the reason for the arrest due to it being a domestic dispute and somebody had to be arrested?

Was her mouth busted?

Did he block the door? If so, for how long and how?

Is he gonna file charges against her, as soon as he gets a sworn affidavit that it was all BS and a false police report was filed against him?

Or is there just not enough evidence to file charges against him so leave it up to UT to do all the police work due to Title IX? I hope not.

I would rather walk a tight rope after an ice storm, than to come up with the "right" way to handle this one.

Consider the woman, either she made it up, or she is willing to give Alexis a pass, both are messed up.

Alexis the person.

The reputation of UT.

Title IX lawsuit.

Question 7 for $200 Alec.

Ask Leonard Little.
Most DUI are a misdemeanor, so even if you kill someone you arent going to jail for life.
Hell, the affluenza kid got probation for killing 4 people

At least you were honest and didn't say "leads me to think"

Yes....I have the same question.

For those scoring along at home, looking thru my orange tinted glasses, so far I have:

1) Peyton = Innocent

2) Mack = Guilty

3) Alexis = Innocent

3) possible dropped charges and kicked out of school or suspended as a reaction to the Entitled IX crowd.

What's the chance he plays in 2016? Obviously if guilty then he is out, but if the charges are dropped is he still kicked off to not give more ammo to the title IX lawsuit?
