It's very simple, quick google search. As mentioned earlier, his name is Tim Hart and he signed with Memphis (State).

The only opinion I have is that as an attorney, I would never sign my name to that Complaint filed on behalf of the Plaintiffs. It's littered with speculation, and is very reckless. If some of that stuff ends up being proven to be false, that law firm and those attorneys could be in for a very bad day.

how so? not questioning. asking as a legit discussion.

TBH, I don't think you can win by fighting a case like this. The damage is done in the press not by the outcome. No one will care if UT wins the case but they will care if you keep it in the headlines and in doing so UT will take a beating even if they win. Headlines are what people read - they don't bother with actual facts or with even reading the stories, just the headlines and that headline is gonna scream "UT COVERS UP RAPE!!!!!!" because that's what sells newspapers and get clicks.

i guess on the face of it i agree. people do the same when voting for Pres anymore. but, i still hold out that the University can save face.

Those are very, very serious allegations contained in the Complaint. If the allegations against the individuals named in the complaint are not true, the Plaintiffs and their counsel have opened themselves up to defamation liability and malicious prosecution liability. There would also be separate legal ethics issues that would have the attorneys answering to the Tennessee Bar.

From what I can tell, the Plaintiffs' hired a reputable Plaintiffs' attorney to represent them in this. But after reading the Complaint, it is littered with allegations that, in my view, are in there for no other purpose but "shock value," and to gather media attention. Likely intended to put pressure on the University to settle right away.

Counter suit? Slander or defamation? Not sure which.

The big key, of course, is whether the allegations are true. If they are true, then the attorneys have done nothing wrong. But, they must be absolutely sure of the veracity of the allegations before filing them. Hope for their sake they were right, and for UT's sake they are wrong.

It was a shame Bowles was made out the bad guy on here during that whole ordeal.

Do we know that he wasn't? I mean, it's all rumors and speculation. If he really did convince a girl to press charges over consensual sex because he was jealous, he's a bad guy. If he encouraged a girl to press charges over legitimate rape, he's not a bad guy. How do we know what happened? The way you said it made me think some truth has come to light, but I haven't read anything but speculation on both sides.

Well I'm sure we'll all hear more about it than we'd like to as these cases drag out. I don't think Drae could convince a girl to press charges out of jealousy or whatever. That involves getting a rape kit which isn't something someone's just gonna sign up for. I mean that's some pretty invasive medical procedures because a guy you know talked you into it. It would be like a girl you know talking you into an anal exam you didn't need and spending hours talking to police because she was jealous of some girls you were talking to (wut?).

If he told her, "if something happened you need to go to police" then he did the right thing. His interview says he wasn't told of an assault by her so take that for what it's worth.

I don't know. I don't think that is exactly what the other rumor was though. That's why I never commented on the issue the first time, and won't any further.

If organizations give out a free check every time someone brings a frivolous lawsuit the line for free checks will keep getting longer. Take a couple of them to court and the lawyers will learn you're not an easy target and quit filing frivolous lawsuit. It will cost the organization short-term in expenses and public relations but can be a long-term gain on both fronts.

I wonder how much damage control Butch and other coaches are having to do with recent signees and current players they are recruiting over this mess of a lawsuit. Do any insiders have any info on that or how they are feeling about this? The headlines about having a hit on Bowles is ridiculous and salacious sounding which I guess is the point. This is purely my opinion but I think Butch handled everything the best he could have. He suspended players immediately but players having arguments isn't really grounds for suspension. If Bowles was beat up like these headlines want us to believe, I think we would have heard about it.

Warranted or not pay them the $ and make this go away.

Nothing to gain and most will side against the program because they won't understand that "altercations" happen in a lockerroom all the time.

Pay the cash and let this be over quickly

Yep.
