Disclaimer: I didn't even read the link BUT...

Pop culture and putting hormone-drive 20-year old male and females in close quarters is a recipe for sexual disaster. As I get older it pains me to know what goes on. At that age it is so hard to tamper that temptation, it's a two way street and this is a broken world. I'm not insensitive to it just because it involves my favorite football team.

The problem with sex isn't that it's satisfying.... The problem is that's it's NOT, in that context. Sorry for sidetracking the topic but it's a daily struggle for all.

I hate it.

How???? Peyton didn't shake Brees hand after game. Instead called him on the phone. Excuse: I didn't want to push through the crowd.

Cam Newton: pushes through finds Manning and congratulated him. Walked off on the media.

Sportsmanship is displayed between two TEAMS. Not the media, how black and white is that for you to read. My goodness take off the Orange shades. You teach kids to shake the other teams hands not the damn fans or media.

^This^

Personally, would love to see them wait for him to sign it. Take the parents out of it altogether to give another layer of protection.

If it were me and I had to wait and then sign. I would clearly not give my father any of my funds if I made it to the NFL. Build your own house pops.

How exactly did UT have a massive cover up when all of these players, except one, were all suspended and or dismissed from the team? Good grief just when I think I can relax a few weeks here comes the bad news...

Am I the only one that realizes that Cams "show me a good loser" quote was originally said by Vince Lombardi?

I absolutely love it

Who is the "John Doe" current football player, I wonder?

Otherwise, all the others have been kicked off and disciplined, right? So how is that being indifferent, as the article/suit claims?

Its a ploy to cash in. If you don't pursue criminal charges, you should never win a civil case jmo. It'll probably settle but I hope they fight it if it's not true

I was wondering the same thing. As far as we know, Butch has suspended every player indefinitely who was accused of any sort of sexual assault. It seems like UT is more proactive regarding this than other schools that continue to let players play until allegations are proven.

Nobody is going to stop recruiting a 5* defensive end they think they can still add to their roster. I guarantee you that Freeze is still recruiting this kid and his parents to Ole Miss.

You must be wrong old Big Zit. Good old Hugh and Ole Miss would never do anything against the rules like try and keep recruiting him. Tsk Tsk

I'm so tired of the media trying to make UT the poster school for sexual assault. How could UT sweep anything under the rug when KPD and local, regional and state media are thrilled to put the least little rumor of misbehavior in scathing headlines?

This lawsuit will be almost impossible for the plaintiffs to prove. First they need to prove that sexual assaults actually occurred. (That will be determined by the trials currently in delayed status). Then for the ones who were not tried, all they have is allegations by females. So each of those would need a trial also. Even if they were successful in proving that assaults actually occurred, then they would need to prove that UT administrators knew about them and ignored them. That would be almost impossible, especially since the facts are probably just the opposite.

Bottom line is that this is a money grabbing scheme by some people that are hoping UT will settle out of court to make this go away. Personally, I hope they fight it!

The worst part of this is there is a LONG list by law of procedures that every University must follow Thru with when all claims are made. If any Tenn official made even one small deviation from that procedure we are going to drug thru the mud. No win kind of deal

Blame that Aniti Whadwhatthe****ever. Anything that ever comes out of the Tennessean agaisnt UT is from her. This one IS a serious issue but its far from the first thing she has used to try and **** on UT. She has a personal vendetta agaisnt the university and its a little ridiculous at this point because its EVERY. SINGLE. STORY from her.

Yeah, I remember the Von stuff. He was tried and convicted in the media... without a shred of evidence.

Just a strange lawsuit. Seems like Tennessee did the right things by immediately dismissing/suspending players who were implicated in sexual assault claims. I would also imagine Jones had "sexual assault education" things for the players to cover his ass and hopefully get the players to realize they should avoid situations where bad things might happen. All CFB programs probably have them.

Outside of that, what can you do? You're talking about 85+ football players on a rotating basis every year on a college campus and apparently men from the basketball team and the general student body as well. That's a massive pool of "potential rapists" that the university is supposed to be 100% responsible for all times.

Just a money grab on the lawsuit. UT should tell them they will be happy to let the courts decide and to let them know when the depositions will start.

One of the toughest things a school must do when there is a complaint is remove the "victim" from all forms of "fear". That means
Changing classes for the victim and Anyone that is deemed a "threat".
In the case of a football team I am sure it could be argued the school didn't do enough to keep all players from coming into the girls daily environment.

Very very tough thing to comply with the law on

Just an example of a Potenial problem with this kind if issue

Lawsuits like this are precisely why Butch has no option but to immediately suspend/dismiss players who are named in sexual assault investigations. What sucks is that there are undoubtedly more to come regardless of what the university/AD does to educate players. Tennessee will continue battling this issue and stigma/label for a while.

Great finebaum talking about it now. Did the university release a statement yet? I would think Butch who is so careful about planning would have made sure he was doing the appropriate steps in these matters- he suspended the players immediately and most of these players never saw the field again!!!

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I would assume the marlin lane stuff is probably part of this. That one did sound fishy IMO
