Agree. Tennessee produces offensive linemen. Not so much defensive linemen. Historically speaking.
If we are indeed down to three spots and Byrd and Warrior are Vols, I hope we fill it with Kongbo or Brown.
Haha! This is why I love this place, we can debate over anything. I believe I once witnessed an argument over what type of wood was better to burn.
"Hickory you, sum-beach!"
"Bump that, I'll put a rick of ash against your Elm and smoke that a!!!"
It was glorious. That may have been VQ though i don't remember.
Hubbs made it sound like if we miss on Brown, Clark, Kongbo and Daniels, we won't take another DLineman. I think we've already said no to Bailey.
Just a guess, but I'd say our priorities are-
TOP:
Warrior
Byrd
Brown
Kongbo
THEN:
Daniels
Clark
Dickerson
AND if there's still a spot left:
Moss
Williams
Saying Peyton was more talented is just hilarious itself. You can't name a QB who was more physically gifted period. And first year yes Cam was better coming in first year. Peyton turned the corner his second year. He threw 25+ picks as a rookie. This isn't a cut dry case like you are trying to make it out to be.
Oh and this isn't a career comparison either. The original argument was about them coming out. Cam easily displayed that as rookies they were on the same level passing. RG3 was very good passing coming out of college. He could make every throw as well. His attitude is what ended his career at Washington. As a rookie he was dynamic as a passer. Washington did him dirty pushing him to play injured. I guess we are watching different games. I don't remember Peyton killing his first year. His second year he became elite and stayed there. But this is an argument about them coming out of school. If he was better due to college coming out then Ryan Leaf was a more polished passer than Cam Newton coming out. Joey Harrington and Tim Couch too. Oh okay.......
I think it was Rogan. People just hate Cam. Lol they try to bring up the laptop thing and that's fine. What other trouble has he gotten into? They say the money situation. But Tennessee has paid for players too. Just the nature of recruiting. Will he be what Peyton is over time? Who knows but the tools are there if they would get him some real WR help. Ted Ginn drops more passes than Malone. 😂😂😂😂😂
very few qb's are as gifted mentally with football knowledge than pm. That is part of the equation you are ignoring. Not saying cam is not smart but manning is on a different level than most. Football smarts and reading defenses and preparation is what i am talking about.
Not a racist thing either d4h
SEC 2015 position rankings: 10 best front-seven players - SEC Blog- ESPN
^ Bunk. Hard to argue the LBs they chose but they put 4 Bammers on the list among another linemen and no JRM.
6. Tennessee: Pass protection was much better for the Vols in 2015 than in 2014. After allowing 43 sacks (last in the SEC) the year prior, Tennessee brought that number down to 24, good for sixth in the league. The amount of time Joshua Dobbs was pressured in SEC games (25.8 percent) was the fourth-lowest in the conference. Running the ball, the Vols averaged 4.7 yards per rush versus SEC teams, third-best in the league.
4. Kyler Kerbyson, Tennessee: Twice named SEC offensive lineman of the week, Kerbyson was key to the Vols vast improvement in pass protection this year. Anchoring the group at left tackle, he helped the Vols go from last to sixth in sacks allowed (43 to 24). He was an Associated Press second-team All-SEC selection.
Fortenberry just said on 104.5 he would say right now TN gets Warrior and Byrd and he's very confident in both of those. He said the third spot is wide open. Could be Brown, Kongbo, Dickerson, Bailey, Williams or Moss depending on who they can get to commit and what they can squeeze in.
