I don't like him because he got paid big time and Auburn and Cam got away with it. It was with the NCAA's blessing too.

War Damn Cheater and proud of it:

“In the SEC, dude, we make sure you’re well-taken care of,” Charles Barkley once said. “Everybody wants to give us a hard time about giving Cam Newton $200,000. That’s called a good damn investment. We got him for $200,000? You kidding me? I wish my accountant could do stuff like that.”

Not so openly selling to the highest bidder to the tune of 150K and dad's church getting repaired and his trucking company getting out of debt. Handshakes and cars ect do happen and has happened for as long as I can remember. 100-150K and selling your kid as well is another level. Even Kiffy backed away from that crap.

Fair enough. I hate the NCAA system so I don't mind. I don't like constant showboating, so I get that, but some people actively want him to fail on a level above people who have done actual horrible things like ray rice or Joe Mixon or greg hardy.

Wait is there seriously a poster or posters here that are saying Cam left college as a better passer than Peyton left college?

If that is what has happened that poster(s) needs to forfiet their right to ever give a football opinion ever again

Hoo boy. BB is gonna be PISSED

Hope he's doing better. Been asking BB about it for a while now. Sounds like some "decent" news, if not completely good.

Thanks man. He has good days and bad. Tells me the same stories over and over. He forgets a lot but can tell you anything about the Vols. It's weird how he can remember every detail about a game that happened in 1997 but has no idea what month it is.

If I remember he suffers from Alzheimer's. We share that about a parent as my mother has it too. I've experienced the same thing with my mom.

My family is dealing with it, too. I spend as much time in Knoxville as I can. I feel for everyone sharing the experience-- it's very hard, and some days are much worse than others.

I sat and listened to his favorite Manning stories over and over today. He loved the bootleg Manning did on Bama his Sophomore year.

He said he will never watch another NFL game if Manning isn't playing.

Peyton was a better passer than Newton. I don't really care about rookie stats, with a dozen other variables in play.

RG3 put up better numbers too, was he a better passer or any of the other guys I listed earlier.

Other than saying he wasn't as talented a passer coming out of college, I haven't put down Newton. If that can be considered a put down.

Saying Peyton was more talented is just hilarious itself. You can't name a QB who was more physically gifted period. And first year yes Cam was better coming in first year. Peyton turned the corner his second year. He threw 25+ picks as a rookie. This isn't a cut dry case like you are trying to make it out to be.

Oh and this isn't a career comparison either. The original argument was about them coming out. Cam easily displayed that as rookies they were on the same level passing. RG3 was very good passing coming out of college. He could make every throw as well. His attitude is what ended his career at Washington. As a rookie he was dynamic as a passer. Washington did him dirty pushing him to play injured. I guess we are watching different games. I don't remember Peyton killing his first year. His second year he became elite and stayed there. But this is an argument about them coming out of school. If he was better due to college coming out then Ryan Leaf was a more polished passer than Cam Newton coming out. Joey Harrington and Tim Couch too. Oh okay.......

Breaker, I'm just gonna have to respectfully disagree and end it at that because we could go on forever.

More pressing issues, have you had hot chicken?

I'm on a diet can't eat anything that sounds good but once a week. My life sucks right now. 😂😂😂😂

I'm not one for comparing Peyton and Cam. Both were studs and no brainer #1 picks. Both were one of kind guys you just don't see again at any level. I remember arguing with people on this site when Cam came from JUCO about how he was a stud but some people on here said he had a terrible arm and Matt Simms was better. People have just always hated him. I knew he was trouble the moment he Jalen Hurded one of our DBs when he was at Florida.

When he came in as a backup to Tebow I looked over at my brother and said, "that guy is a better football player than Tim Tebow."

I'm not saying I called it... but I called it.

I think it was Rogan. People just hate Cam. Lol they try to bring up the laptop thing and that's fine. What other trouble has he gotten into? They say the money situation. But Tennessee has paid for players too. Just the nature of recruiting. Will he be what Peyton is over time? Who knows but the tools are there if they would get him some real WR help. Ted Ginn drops more passes than Malone. 😂😂😂😂😂

Getting Benjamin back next year will be a good start.

I like how D4H keeps pretending like people say the Vols had two top 5 classes because Rivals and ESPN said so when in reality, people would say the same thing if only Scout had said it. It's such an obvious and intentional lie to try and prove a flawed argument that it ridiculous.

I'm not talking our fans. I'm talking opposing fans and the media. If you watch ESPN or SEC network last summer they constantly mentioned our back to back top 5 classes. That created a favorable national narrative for us. Something 247 can't do.

If you want a non-UT example, just look at Alabama. Everyone still thinks Alabama has the streak going for #1 recruiting classes because they were still #1 on espn last year. However, just about every other service had USC having the #1 recruiting class in 2015. But that wasnt the narrative. Everyone still talks about Alabama having the #1 recruiting class 4 years running.

ESPN controls the recruiting narrative so their rankings matter the most.

Here's the play you're talking about with Cam trucking one of our guys while he was at UF. Open at your own risk. This showed up on my Twitter timeline the other day via retweet.

Comparing Newton to Manning is like comparing the American Idol winner to a Frank Sinatra or Babara Streisand. There is no comparison, at least not yet. wait another 15 years or so.
