Too judge him on UNC results alone is a hugh mistake. That team was slaw on D before he got there and he improved it tremendously. The player's are not near the talent level that is at UT right now. He would be a great hire. If we get him or Shoop, then it is a home run.

He did, not hiding that fact. But again, I think it says more about Briles than it does Chizik. Most coaches will toss in new concepts for a bowl game. Almost none will completely overhaul their offense, let alone succeed at it.

Put it like this: Northwestern had a very solid defense on the year. And when Debord showed them things that they had seen on tape and prepared for, they typically handled it. But when we showed them something new, we gutted them... as explained here: Anatomy of a Beatdown 3. (sidenote: this whole series is very good, would recommend reading if you haven't yet)

A prepared defense can be a good one. An unprepared defense is meat, especially when your personnel isn't talented enough to just line up and win individual battles. Now consider that Baylor changed the entire scheme rather than just adding a package. NC's defense was dead in the water. Their only hope was for Baylor to make mistakes (largely, they didn't) or for the NC offense to match them (they tried but came up short).

I'll wait before believing its over. Buddy at work told me LWS posted on 247 about same time as this so called email went out that door wasn't shut on Shoop yet. So not sure how things would have changed that quick late at night.

It doesn't sound like Chizik will let it go past him though so it's a good Chance he ends up the guy but Shoop door has to close first

Florida fans and UNC fans are many times one in the same. Both fan bases are filled with bandwagon front runners who don't really even watch sports.

I picture the typical GatorHeel fan wearing a Florida Gator Hoodie with a backwards baby blue UNC Tarheel hat. With the little tarheel footprint logo on the back of the hat. Or the hat can be a camouflage UNC hat. Alternate uni for the GatorHeel would be UNC basketball shorts with a solid white UF flatbill with maybe a wife beater tank top.

Fedora doesn't recruit defense. See Shy Tuttle, Dexter Lawrence etc that walk out the state. Chizik took a plastic fork into a gunfight with Art Briles the most explosive offensive innovator in the game. Briles with a month to prepare would have also put up big numbers on TN defense had we played them in a bowl

Definitely GC but for the money GC is the better hire. You get a championship DC for less. No brainer to me.

Was the DC when Texas won National Championship.

Was DC when Auburn went undefeated in 2004.

Was HC at Auburn when they won national Championship a few years ago.

Knows about winning championships.

I enjoyed that breakdown as well. I came away feeling even better about DeBord. I don't think Northwestern's DC shot to the top of any wish lists based off that. You can recover from a bad game where you don't make adjustments. Steele did. But not the very NEXT SEASON. We hire Chizik and I'm fine with it. But don't delude yourself into thinking this won't be brought up at the first hiccup...OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Exactly what I pointed to earlier. Anyone saying that maybe Shoop was asking for some unreasonable amount, fact is what he even currently makes at PSU would be considered unreasonable to Hart.
