Small sample size don't you think?

Sometimes it's about the Jimmies and Joes along w x's-n- o's.

Plus, its a bowl game. Motivation on players can have a role here too.

One game doesn't erase his resume

Doesn't change the fact that they gave up 650 yards rushing. And he could be fantastic but I just wouldn't see the impact. If it is him then all I ask are for some 3rd and 4th down stops for a change.

Good article on Chizik this year.

Gene Chizik Only Concerned about UNC

The success has led to something else, too: speculation about whether Chizik would consider becoming a head coach again with all the FBS jobs opening up.

To this, Chizik is quick with an answer.

“There’s some of that speculation out there I’m sure, but I think about it zero,” Chizik said. “I’m entrenched in what I’m doing right now. I’ve never been one to try to do this job while I’m thinking about the possibilities down the road. Coupled with the fact that’s not what I need to do anymore. That’s not what I need to be. I don’t have to prove anything to anybody. As a head coach and as an assistant, I’ve done all you can do.

“When you’re younger and you’re chasing that dream, it becomes really important to you. It’s not important to me now. Am I fully 100 percent confident I could go to someplace and, with the exception of my last year at Auburn, take off from where I was at previously? Absolutely. I have zero doubt about that. Is that a goal or a huge desire of mine? No. I’m not going to go interview for jobs and be one of seven guys and hope I get the job. If somebody calls and says you’re our top guy or top two guys, would I listen? I don’t know, depends on where it is. But I’m in a way different place than I was. I’m very happy doing this, being a defensive coordinator.”

Makes it sound like he'd rather settle down somewhere and be a dominate DC the rest of his career ala Chief. Could just be coach speak, but if true UT>>>>>UNC.

It was Baylor! And it was a bowl game. And we gave up 550 yards to Baylor Jr., aka BGSU.

I'll say this: Chizik already has his UT-orange shirt for the presser.

Sam, can you make that a UT/Dish Network background?

Edit wrong stat

Chiz is great Coordinator regardless of one bowl game against a high power offense

That game IMO was more a credit to Briles than a discredit to Chizik. Briles completely changed his scheme in a month. That's ridiculous.

So Chizik came out with a defense that was never especially talented in the first place against an offense that was radically different from what they had gameplanned for. I can forgive that.

Solution: Hire Briles as our OC. Simple.

Doesn't sound like that's going to be on Chizik"s resume...reads like he got outcoached.

Defensive coordinators almost always get outcoached when the offensive coordinator has a month to prepare. Especially when it's Art Briles and he completely changes his offense.

So my wish list WAS Foster (not realistic) Chizik and Shoop.

What's Bo Pelini up to these days? Could be good as well.

I know, eventually I'll have damn Vince Lombardi on the list. Smh.
