I admittedly want Shoop. I'm just sexy name guy on coaching searches. I wasn't overly thrilled with Butch Jones and he obviously has turned out to be fine so far.

Although I won't be ecstatic for Chizik I will admit it is an upgrade over Coach J

Although that's a huge number of yards rushing I really think it's more of an outlier

It goes both ways. Chiz lead the nation giving up only 11.3 points/game as Auburn's D Coordinator. While his team D was ranked top 5 for several years. He consistenlty put up good numbers at multiple stops.

Pretty different story than 1 season at UNC with a bad bowl game.

He also had a month to prepare. Baylor was not a running team. Blame it on the talent deficiency but it was an epic coaching failure. He won't get any mulligans here. I'm not saying he'd fail...but that was a red flag IMO.

One question for everyone if we get CGC for our defensive coordinator.....is he one of only a handful of people who can put up with Coach Towel Twirler and would we go over to Ark. State and get him and put him on staff?

I don't know ab "top" D in the ACC for yr 1, but good. Chizik built his name with his defenses, though. People forget how well respected he is as a D Coordinator...

"Chizik also was Auburn’s defensive coordinator from 2002-04 where he built one of the nation’s most dominating defenses. In 2004, he earned the Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in the country when Auburn finished first in scoring defense and fifth in total defense. Auburn went 13-0, won the Southeastern Conference and defeated Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

Chizik was the defensive coordinator at Texas under Mack Brown when the Longhorns captured the 2005 national championship. The Longhorns ranked eighth nationally in scoring defense, 10th in total defense and fourth in pass efficiency defense.

Prior to his arrival at Auburn in 2004, Chizik was the defensive coordinator for four seasons (1998-01) at Central Florida, where he improved a unit that was 81st nationally in total defense before his arrival to one that was 16th in the country in 2001."

All that from his current UNC bio.
Has multiple national championships as head coach and D Coordinator. Has been successful at all stops as head defense guy. Knows Sec very well.

Chizik > Shoop imo

Who knows who we'll end up w, but I'd love him here.

Edit: I'd love to land either FTR

Too judge him on UNC results alone is a hugh mistake. That team was slaw on D before he got there and he improved it tremendously. The player's are not near the talent level that is at UT right now. He would be a great hire. If we get him or Shoop, then it is a home run.

Just seems odd that LWS would put info about Chiziks bio in the message- like a presser.

Not really, he always shares informative posts about personnel or admin changes. I was more surprised that nothing else was being said this morning since I received that email last night.

Only mentioned Chief because someone posted they didn't want Chizick after giving up a million yards rushing to Baylor.

Wasn't really referring to you, more to the general RF posters who have mentioned him.

Chizik is a distant second for me. I was extremely impressed with Shoop from his time with Vanderbilt, his association with Jimmy Frank notwithstanding.

Not for me. To each their own.

It was posted on 247 BB. I'm a.member of 247and Rivals.

I'll take your word for it, but understand, you have been put on super secret probation. You're going to have to step your game up a little, if you want to keep your VFL status.

Was it mayonnaise based slaw, or that red vinegar based nasty that North Carolinians have been brainwashed into calling slaw?
