Peyton said he was a patient in 2011..he couldn't have sold to Peyton because Manning was in Denver in 2013 when Sly interned there

There were times when I went in the morning and there were times when I went after practice so this thing about 'after hours' is so misleading because it may have been 5:15 pm because their office closed at 5."

I will say that in reading many of the posts, the impression I got was that some were saying AJ is not credible and some were saying it is. One side arguing that the other side ended-up being right, but for the wrong reason, seems a little bit like sour grapes.

Lol... Why would I have sour grapes or need to "win"?

What I mean is that if the story ends up being false, it will be because they went with a story they shouldn't have and won't have anything to do with this goofy fantasy that Al Jazeera is bad because they showed OBL videos 10 years ago therefore they must be a terrorist organization.

Nobody has called them a terrorist organization but there are examples of them serving as a conduit for radical islamic propaganda as well as anti-western culture sentiment.

You're acting like I said I think Peyton did it when I explicitly said that I don't think he did. All I said is that some of the things in the documentary (some of the other players, the fact that Sly was dealing, etc) were probably true.

There were some posts earlier in this thread that did. I'm not sure if mods removed them or not and I'm not going to dig through 30+ pages to find them.

Besides that, this story isn't about anti-western culture sentiment. This isn't a story to take down the NFL. Everyone knows PED use is rampant in the NFL and has been for decades.

Several years ago PM came to our little town and spent time at a little boys house that was dying with cancer. They played video games and did a whole afternoon together. No newspapers or fanfare. He just did it and when the child passed away, he called the family and sent flowers and was just a true gentleman. He did it for nothing more than to be good to the kid. I will never forget it and am very mad at how some of you Vol fans are ready to give more credit to shoddy journalist instead of Peyton and what he has proven of himself in the public eye and out of it.

Sorry for creating a new thread, but with all of the misleading article titles I felt like this deserved to be highlighted. The quote below is from the source of the whole Peyton HGH drama. However, ESPN's main article link only states that Peyton refutes, which is slightly misleading considering the SOURCE is admitting that it's wrong.

"Mr. Sly told ESPN’s Chris Mortenson that he was purposely dropping famous names and giving false information to Mr. Collins in order to “determine whether this guy was legitimate or just trying to steal some knowledge about the business.”

Mr. Sly said he was a pharmacy intern in 2013 at the Guyer Institute in Indianapolis, where Mr. Manning received treatment for an injury in 2011. The Al Jazeera report identifies Mr. Sly as a pharmacist.

“When I was there, I had never seen the Mannings ever. They were not even living there at that time,” Mr. Sly said. “Someone who worked there said they had been there before. That was the extent of any knowledge I had. I feel badly. I never saw any files. This is just amazing that it reached this point.”"

To think there were numerous VN posters defending Al Jazeera yesterday, as a credible news source, when the story broke!

I hope Peyton legally boxes their jaws in court!!

Normally I stay away from controversial topics but I think this is a good example of the "rush to publish" of the media in the instant gratification age. Here is the case of a man (Sly) who knowingly gave false information to a reporter (Collins) to learn if Collins was legitimate. Rather than doing any investigation to learn whether or not the information about the subject (Peyton) was true which I would have thought is the first thing a journalist would do, Collins did not even check out the reliability of the Sly and published the inflammatory, fictitious story regarding Peyton without checking any sources, likely getting a handsome payment for total and complete bogus hearsay. The victim is taking the heat, the story-originator, Collins, and al-Jazeera have lost credibility, at least for those who pay attention enough to the story to know the facts behind it. Meanwhile, this garbage will always linger in the minds of more people than we care to think as being true. No wonder I am so cynical about what I hear these days.

Eh, he might but he'd probably lose.

The reason is that in defamation cases, public figures like Manning, have to prove that what was said/communicated was done with "actual malice". Actual malice is a standard that's a bit amorphous. If I recall correctly, it likely means that the speaker said something he knew was wrong, and said it with the intent to harm, and that there was actual quantifiable damage to Manning.
