Fallout 4

Wait--the dog can't die? Is that true on all difficulty modes? I swear I thought Dogmeat died at one point and I had to restart. If that's the case, I'm never wasting a stimpack on that dirty mongrel ever again.

None of the followers can die.

So close to lvl 45. Cait imo is the best overall companion. Atleast for my play style. If you even think about pressing x in a conversation she will dislike it. Even got matching power armor lol

All I'm hearing is, buy fallout 3. From you people.

I only bought Skyrim Legendary(all expansions) a year and a half ago. I put a good 8 months into it with 3 characters. Even with the updates, some missions are faulty/don't work and the peeless ring of destrution lool. They didn't even fix the missing r. When you get text wrong(despite the million items), the coding probably has issues too.

I was a few hours in, level 8, done a few settlement clearing missions, etc and still had no idea how you guys were building stuff or "cleaning up" areas, let alone how to protect such an area. Put the game back in and cleared out the Shindig Supplies or whatever it was and it gave me the tutorial on how to build a radio tower. Now I see what's going on there. lol

Pretty interesting how you can wipe everything out and build new stuff.

I'm starting to understand things a bit better. It's hard getting into it and figuring stuff out having never played a FO game for more than an hour or two. I realize the building is new, but using VATS, pipboy, etc. is a challenge figuring it all out.

it definitely takes some time getting used to it. but for me the complexity makes it more rewarding in the end.

Advice stay in the power armor as much as you can supply power cores. I have been hoarding everything I have 150 sinpaks and too much weaponry. The pray and spray is the best Machinegun I've found. The lasers are the most used later in the game by the raiders and higher ups I've found. I have 20 towns to protect right now it is really hard. I'm trying to open up trade routes it's been hard for me. If anyone can help me with trade that would be amazing. I'm like at level 30ish with no trade.

Any tips on finding cores??

One of these best things about this game is that it rewards players who are meticulous about searching every corner of their environment for goodies. I've found a few mini nukes that were clearly placed only for the "easter egg hunters" to find

by trade you mean telling settlers to open supply routes? or having shops to sell stuff? or something else?

schools, manufacturing and military buildings/complexes will have them. usually at the bottom of the building surrounded by ghouls.

Telling settlers to open supply routes!

the issue I have is finding settlers that don't have a job already. On Xbox when you are in the workshop mode you select the settler and press the right bumper and it should pull up a list. its just a different button if you know how to make them move settlements.

I believe you can just reassign them with a new command to do something

I know I can switch them, thing is that I would prefer not to. Especially my store operators. Hate playing musical chairs with guys. seems like an easy mechanic to let you know if they have been assigned something.

If you hover over the settler their assignment is highlighted in green in the overworld, although that only works if you can actually see it.

One thing I saw on Reddit was to have a sort of clothing code for particular types of workers.

I take it you've maxed out the populations in the settlements...? could you recruit more for and under developed settlement and have them be the trade runners?

interesting idea. but I am impatient and not waiting around on the right guy to show up to my settlement.

I think the max population number for each settlement is your charisma value + 10.

I'm not using Sanctuary as my main settlement (although my stuff is there at the moment) so I just make sure there's two guards and assign any settlers that are remaining after the farms and the general store are staffed to supply lines.

You don't even have to do that, really. I just pick up any clothes (and hats, those are helpful) I find and make the settlers equip them according to their roles. It's a bit of micromanagement but if you're building the settlements already a little more micromanagement shouldn't be a big problem.

anyone tried to retool their skill points?? I've spread myself too thin with too many weapon specializations; wanted to adjust
