Missouri Players Go On Strike (merged)

So the football and basketball players pay for the scholarships of the rest of the athletic scholarships?

That's actually a fairly accurate statement rather than a question. From my understanding a lot of other sports other than FB or BB don't make money. Or barely break even.

So yes, the football and basketball programs tend to fund the vast majority of the other sports.

ETA: I see VB answered the question from a better point of view.

See my post under this one. You're putting football first. Shame on you.

Not true. I'm saying that student athletes are students and athletes. They are free to not fulfill the duties required to maintain both titles, but they should not expect to maintain their status as one or the other if they choose to not fulfill those duties.

So you think a white person is more likely to be victimized by a black person than white? You don't trust the fbi data?

Oh my god. What are you not understanding? You were totally debunked about your crime stats by another poster earlier. Rate is the measure of problems. White people are highest on any gross measure because this country is 70% white. RATE is the true measure. A city of a million people with ten murders is significantly safer than a town of 100 with 5 murders. RATE.

I don't give a single F about white on white crime. Who is arguing with you about that? What gets tiresome is black on black crime being blamed on white people. Now, go rest that little brain of yours.

I said that!...not as nicely tho. :hi:

Anger arising from having a hot poker stabbed into the core of your dignity is neither phony nor misplaced. I wish VFL34 had gone public with the indignity he suffered at the restaurant in Knoxville. These are all glaring symptoms of serious social ills that many prefer to believe got healed and resolved in the 60's. They didn't! The longer we gloss over these things, the longer it will take for any resolution to come about.
(UM President is giving resignation speech at this moment.)

And a college President is the key to it all....right? Let me enlighten you a bit, forcing people to think a certain way, never fixes anything. Healing and mind changing begins with love, not phony anger, not hyperbole, not speech codes, not extreme political correctness. None of those things remedies any ill that is still present in a society.

Who's talking about "white on white" or "black on Black?" I'm talking merely more likely to commit a crime. per Capita, Blacks in the country are more likely to commit a violent crime than whites are in this country. It's the cold, honest statistical truth and something that the left consistently tries to avoid by accusations of racism because their policies keep minorities dependent upon the govt and under their thumb.

The Democratic Party: The party of Slavery, Jim Crow, and the Government Plantation. The party that has, since its inception, relied on and exploited the dependency of minority men and women to further their political goals.

Ok statistcally one black person is more likely to commit a murder. On the other hand if you are raped, assaulted, molested , robbed it is more likely that a white person did it to you going by statistics. Al

Jesus some of the responses on here have me worried for Vol Nation. Everything doesn't revolve around football.

Nor should life revolve around the whims of the mob.

“Nothing is so contemptible as the sentiments of the mob.”

A 1st Century Roman Philosopher and certainly still true today.

Did I mention hate anywhere? I said this adds to 0s legacy of SJW insanity, which if you haven't noticed, has gotten out of control. A for effort on the Catholic hate you have tho

Show me one post you have EVER posted on this forum about Obama, any Democrat or any Democrat policy that you do not spew hatred, just one.

I said your pope taught love, how is that spewing catholic hate? That is exactly what he should be teaching as a Christian.

Wait til they shut down the theatrical program or journalism school or wherever a scholarship is issued. Can't revoke their scholarship! Didn't do it to the football team! Sets a precedent. Don't like something? Refuse to do what your scholarship requires...they'll cave. :matrix:

What's he supposed to do? More speech codes? How about gunshots to the back of the neck for people that don't agree with the mob mentality or think differently than others? Universities are being held hostage by absolutist political correctness, and pardon me for saying it, but cultural Marxism. Either you think PRECISELY the way they want you to think, or you get labeled, you get that scarlet letter forced upon you.

I wasn't suggesting ways to fix the issues, i was simply stating that it seems alot of folks of focusing only on the football players, this isnt about the football players it just gained momentum and threw gas on a fire, there are serious racial issues going up there.

The simple fact we can even have this discussion is proof alone that we should not be trying to quiet down a bunch of 18-25 year olds, there is an issue there, a real issue that perhaps we dont see everyday, i am a middle class white guy never had to go through it, these are not middle class white kids, this is not occupy wall street, there is a situation here that demands notionally attention and if the prez isnt up to handling these things in a timely manner perhaps it is time for him to be removed, i dont think that that point of view is all that radical......all this talk of take their scholarships and all, man you guys living in a glass house or something....this is how social change happens, people speak up on inequalities, its never so cut and dry and sometimes people lose thier jobs.....

I find myself discouraged and depressed by the state of race relations in this country at this moment in time. Have we not learned our lessons about how we should treat each other as we ourselves would like to be treated? Look how we respond to each other just in this thread, passive aggressive to overt hate. SMDH.

Maybe it's because it's a rainy day. . .

My bro in law. A huge missouri fan just text me. Said today he is ashamed to be a a mizzou fan. I told him I have some Nice orange attire for him.

Quit questioning my level of Christianity. You are confusing my dislike for democratic policies with hate because of your dislike for Catholics

Had the Northwestern ruling worked in those players favor, we would have seen a new day in college athletics.

It didn't. But, guess what, fellas? We've just started a new day in college athletics. 30-something black college football players refusing to play for their university just achieved what years of litigation could not. You don't mess with checkbooks, and those players demonstrated just who exactly has ultimate control of the checkbook at Mizzou. It ain't the administration or the Big Money people. It's the football players.

This is both a unique opportunity and a frightening new reality at the same time.

This will set a new precedent. The old system was just euthanized.

We're now on Day 1 of the New College Athletics.

This makes no sense. They are the only ones not getting paid.
