Missouri Players Go On Strike (merged)

It just has a nice ring to it?

Keep in mind the person who posted this also accused some people of being racist because they would have rather seen Dormady leading the offense this year. That piece of info is pertinent before you jump into his rabbit hole.

True. I am a racist because I thought Dormady threw a better ball than Dobbs.

If you haven't seen the the students list of demands here they are. It may be safe to say that we may not see another Mizzou football game this year. I'm black and I realise that most of their demands are unreasonable.

Most every college qb throws a better ball than Dobbs. Without his running ability, he is below average for the big conferences. Having said that, I am glad to have him, because he takes some pressure off of a weak offensive line.

Nothing says, "the only reason you were chosen for this position is because of the color of your skin," quite like demanding a quota.

In the wake of mounting racial tension, which culminated in a swastika scrawled in human feces appearing on a dorm room wall last month, a University of Missouri graduate student named Jonathan Butler is waging a hunger strike in protest. Butler plans on continuing his strike until the university’s president, Tim Wolfe, steps down or is removed from his post.

Wolfe has been accused by Butler and others of negligence in addressing the rising tension and racial problems on campus.

Tonight, black players on the Missouri football team joined Butler’s fight. The group posted a message on Twitter declaring that they would be boycotting all football activities until Wolfe is gone.

On Saturday, some 30 African-American members of the University of Missouri football team announced they will not participate in any football-related activities until Tim Wolfe, president of the University of Missouri System, has been removed.

They join Jonathan Butler, a black graduate student staging a hunger strike, and campus groups in protesting the way Wolfe has dealt with issues of racial harassment during the school year.

A petition has also been posted at Change.org to remove Wolfe from office; it so far has over 4,500 signatures. And a statement calling for a walkout of graduate school workers on Monday and Tuesday is being posted to social media.

Mizzou's players are going on strike until the university president is fired, but he is not stepping down so far.. Mizzou's program is exploding internally right now..

I demand to see what they consider

" White male privilege "

Does it contain the following?

Paying 22% of your income in taxes
Paying for healthcare
Car insurance
Mortgage
Braces
Cars
Electric bills
Doctor bills

After all that

Paying for Groceries

Then having barely enough left that you can take your wife out to eat on occasion an hardly can take the family out because there's not enough left

Then being told that we don't pay enough so somebody can sit on their ass and draw a mother****ing check

Talk to someone black then. Just cause you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

That's not an argument.

EDIT: Also, I have spoken to black people. There is nothing systematically oppressing black people in this country anymore unless you count the welfare state. Any Black person can get ahead if they work hard just like me and my Latino azz. Racism does exist but its individuals imposing their racist views on other individuals.

What structural racism? Have you read there's syructural racism being practiced at Mizz? Post the link

There's structural racism in every part of American life. I experienced many instances of racism in college as well. Proud of these young kids for standing up.

Like the black lives matter movement kids today are beginning to stand up to structural racism.

Very proud of them.

Can their offense really play any worse by not practicing? As for the other, does racism exist? Yes, it does but not to the extent that many want to portray and it exists in every race. I have lived in some of the "worst" "racist" parts of the South and have rarely seen it occur. The entire premise of the whole protest is idiotic at best and more than likely staged by outside political groups.

What are they expecting the President to do?

This social justice movement is one of the biggest derailers to social harmony in this country. That Yale Halloween video is disgusting as well.

Seems like the places with the most racial tensions are all places that have been liberal progressive safe havens for 40 plus years

Ferguson ( Suburb of liberal stronghold St. Louis)

St. Louis

Baltimore- no Republican mayor since the late 60's, early 70's

New York

Los Angeles

Miami

Chicago

All big metropolitan areas run forever by Democrats

With low income housing posters plastered all over in Chicago for Iowa, Cedar Rapids and Waterloo is now full of Chicago. I might have heard of shootings there once a month 10-15 years ago. Now, it's everyday. Iowa City is on the current path of joining. Even 10 years ago working in a factory for a temp job, it was mostly people from Chicago working there. You could smell weed having been smoked in the bathroom and some of them would go out and have sex in their cars on break. These places are about 4 hours from Chicago as well as 5 hour from St. Louis. Most of it is coming down from Chicago though. I don't live too far from Cedar Rapids and I don't even go there anymore. I'll never go to Waterloo again.

It's quite obvious racism is dead in country. These poor dumb black kids just haven't gotten the memo.

Turn up the sarcasm meters.

Gut says this will be over in a few, with the players forming a stronger bond and resolve, and use all their emotion against the Vols in some sort of spirit of revival

Those articles appear to leave out a WHOLE lot of the essential "why axis." Seems like a pretty toxic atmosphere there for it to come to this.

No one is saying racism is dead in this country. Individuals are obviously still racist and probably will be racist until the end of the earth. The point is that there's no systems of oppression outside of the welfare state, keeping minorities down and under the thumb of the man. You will never see the welfare state targeted by movements like BLM however.
