I think the roster will be close to "bulletproof" next year. Where are the weaknesses? CB position opposite Martin, perhaps. But I think Moseley still has potential to improve, and we add Osborne. Abernathy will be better in 2016. Gaulden's presence will make it less of an issue as well.

LT is a question mark, but we have a 5* with a year of development in the wings.

Safety will have some question marks, but if we land Warrior and Jennings moves there, we are set.

Medley won't have a slump two years in a row, so the kicker position will be set.

I think the biggest need for the 2016 team is making sure JRM doesn't head to the draft. We desperately need him to stick around for his senior year.

Yep, I'm with you. I think we need to continue to work on our passing game-- developing our WRs and helping Dobbs with consistency and accuracy. Our secondary could be a bit vulnerable as we work in new players, especially if Sutton goes. (Between Sutton and JRM, I think Sutton is the most likely to declare.) I'm still concerned about Medley, though he definitely has the leg and his mechanics seem to be improving. And we need to recruit a couple of stud RBs to build quality depth.

But overall, we're set for a good run next year. I expect us to not just contend, but to win, the SECE. And we'll see where the team can take it from there. I would love Hurd, Dobbs, Barnett, Maggitt and JRM to leave UT with a championship.

His stock has dropped considerably. If a high profile job opens soon, he would be a fool for not leaving Bama.
What about Mich State coach to UGA?

I think Smart has been rooted in Tuscaloosa to build a case for replacing Saban someday. If he made a move to Georgia, I don't think Pruitt would work for him. Most likely replace him at Bama and ironically be in position to...succeed Saban. :). College football can be fun even when there are no games.

Depending on weather forecasts I may drive up and make this my daughters first ever game.

She just turned 3 and is so into Tennessee football this fall.

She had a fairy costume and a witch costume bought by us and the grandparents for her costumes on Saturday, but she demanded to be in her TN cheerleading outfit instead.

Gave me chills and I think it is the perfect time fully turn that blood orange with her first game.

What do you all think!?!?

I think that's a great game to take her to, especially at that age; crowd will be tame. I'm looking forward to taking my son to his first game sometime in the next couple of years, he's 16 months now.

I though Picou was redshirting, but I seem to recall someone talking about him being in the game.

Those other guys should be on there. Utsports.com is usually good with their reports. This spoiled fan is annoyed.

I remember someone posting that and I watched the replay and didn't see Picou. Pretty sure he was supposed to RS, so I'd be curious what changed.

@RyanCooperOSU: An Ohio State spokesman said that J.T. Barrett's summer aid is what has been taken away, not his fall or spring tuition.

Now it's getting comical

Only if you take Urban as a disciplinarian seriously. :)

LT is a weakness going in.

OLB opposite JRM is a weakness going in.

S opposite TKjr (but not much - Evan will be fine)

K

CB opporsite Martin

NB (I think Gaulden will be fine)

RG and RT (should be fine)

WR (still need lots of growth but should be fine)

Richmond will be as good as Kerbyson is this year with the potential to be much better. I see no downgrade LT.

Austin Smith is a freak athlete. He's the future at OLB opposite JRM. I wouldn't worry about linebacker. Darrin Kirkland and Austin Smith are future pros.

Safety should be fine. I like Stephen Griffin to take the starting job opposite TK. He's got great size and athleticism. He's a future star IMO. Berry and Warrior will be backups.

Corner is the only concern I have on the roster next year. Sutton is gone. And Martin is a stud. Other than that we have question marks. We'll need a JUCO to step in like Martin.

Well the Knoxville QB club luncheon was a little disappointing. John Cooper (who happens to be my second cousin) is a very nice guy. Hadn't seen him in several years, probably since his mother's funeral 15-20 years ago. His speech was all Buckeye. Got nauseating at times. Gave the Vols little or know props. Talked about Urban Meyer as if he was a God. Said he and Nick Saban were the two best coaches in college football. Here's a few highlights:

Best stadium in America: OSU
Best game day pageantry: OSU
Top Coaching Jobs: 1. USC, 2. Texas, 3. OSU, 4. Alabama, 5. LSU. Did say UT was a top ten job.
Best facilities: OSU, Laughed when he said they had multiple strength coaches and even a nutrutionist. Also said they were on the cutting edge of technology because their players had trackers in their jerseys. (LOL)

Johnny Majors was there and of course he had to chime in saying that Tennessee was not a top ten job. Said that LSU,FL,GA,AL were all better than Tennessee. He needs to limit his public commentary IMO.

Best part of the gig was Coach Gillespie. He talked about all the running backs and took questions. Someone asked him about Fils-Aime and he he said he couldn't talk about commitments. He did say he loved really good running backs though which got a big laugh.

They also honored Anthony Hancock. Talked to him, he's a nice dude.

Is this John Cooper character serious about that noise? Surprised he didn't get boo'd off stage. That's poor form.

We're 4-4 right now. Is it not a little too early to be throwing around words like "National Championship" for 2016? We still need to make sure we don't screw up THIS year.

This site is confusing to me. It's either sunshiny, Butch-for-president optimism or utter angst and doom-and-gloom negativity. There's never an in-between, even though the in-between typically ends up being closer to the eventual truth.

For the record, I do expect this team to compete for the SEC East next year. I feel that this is a rational next step after our expected finish this season. But again... we still have a lot of work to do to reach that expected finish. One foot in front of the other.

I honestly think Sutton stays and JRM goes. I know Sutton is at least considering staying.

JRM has said he would like to stay. But IDK his financial situation. Sometimes, the money makes the difference-- like it did for Eric Berry and Tiny.

Kirby and Pruitt are big buddies. They coached and hung out together for years.

I'm confused. If you're ranked high you should go, you're not going to improve your stock that much and most don't stay when we're talking about earning millions for doing what you love, compared to staying in school and having to go to classes and play for free. Eric Berry was drafted 5th correct? Tiny didn't have a choice because of his knees.

I like the debate re: Dobbs vs. QD / SJ / JG next year. You're in denial if you don't admit he blatently misses a couple throws a game...but careful about using completion %, etc for depicting accuracy. You almost have to take it play-by-play and even know the intended design of the play to make a true assessment. So many things can cause an incomplete pass...bad throw, drop, poor route, throw away, tipped ball, miscommunication, poor protection, etc.

Dobbs however is playing winning football & not turning the ball over much (despite some close calls on fumbles & ints - he does need to work on ball security when carrying). Going to be hard to beat out a senior for those other three guys.

In betweeners just don't post as much. I'd consider myself as such right now. Haven't posted as much since I got my FireButch speeches out during our first stretch. Now I'm just wait and see til 2017 basically.

What classifies as an in-betweener?

Of course we should finish the season. But this is a fan forum. Sure the players can't overlook the rest of the year. But we as fans can.

The national title talk isn't that outrageous considering we're a 4th and 14 stop from being in Atlanta this year with so many freshmen and sophomores as key contributors.

The team has a bright future. Stop trying to rain on the parade.

Butch just doesn't have many excuses for 2016. Senior QB, Junior RB, Experienced O-Line outside of Richmond. Experienced Defense, only big loss is Sutton. I think Reeves Maybin stays. The goal should be SEC champions.

For recruiting purposes, I hope to see UGA lose to Kentucky and Georgia Tech and beat Auburn to keep them out of a bowl.

Since we're talking about next year and about players leaving early, Do you think Hurd jumps after next year, knowing that fournette will be going then too and also Chubb, assuming he makes 100% recovery?

I think he probably will leave early, and that he could possibly be drafted above Chubb (please don't hurt me Catbone). Hurd's pass pro is elite
