I think more dissent could be focused on refusing to comply with a police officer and a teacher who were clearly trying to make an example of her. Of course, you're probably too dense to see that.

My bringing up dissent ins moreso directed at your unconditional compliance with the police state. its pathetic.

I've done my fair share of such in my brief time on this hunk of rock. I still do. I do it because I recognize that we live in a culture riddled with arbitrary rules and regulations... many of which are there to simply retain structure for plebian sheep like you to wallow in, blissfully ignorant in your stupor.

As long as it's professional..... Cellphones are not allowed..... When I went back to school to change careers I got written up at Lowes home improvement for using my cellphone on the floor.

I don't think the teacher was making an example of her.... It was probably a regular rule like it is at my kids school.... If you have your cellphone out class it is confiscated no questions asked.... Students know the rule at the beginning of the school year. I like rules and feel it's chaos without them... How can a teacher teach a class if everyone is doing their own thing

I don't agree with the manner in which the cop man handled the girl.... But should she be allowed to continually disrupt the class and other students? If she'd rather be a contentious chicken necking jive turkey then she needs to GTFO.

1. I don't support taking private property.
2. You need rules to feel secure. In real life, things don't always go as planned or follow the rules. Some people adjust and keep on moving. Others breakdown when there is no order or structure.

Do you see how silly and arbitrary that sounds? And I've been in plenty of patient areas before to visit relatives and whatnot... the people that work there are not talking shop the entire time.. they're human. I understand its a job and you gotta eat, but that is one silly azzed rule.

Rules also keep things organized so you can teach the class..... So you would be ok with all 30+ students doing whatever they wanted to do in class.

If this was the final straw, they should have just suspended her. They could have continued on with class after she refused to hand over the phone. She would have had to eventually leave the classroom on her own power and they could have dealt with suspending her afterwards.

The argument being made is that a trivial situation got turned into an MMA practice. Why are you not able to see that the outrage is centered on the overreaction of the adults?

You keep arguing against a point that no one is making- everyone here understands the girl was wrong in having her cellphone out and not listening to her teacher. We're saying that the response(violence) to her bad behavior was totally inappropriate and escalated a situation way beyond how serious it needed to be. Now, you've made it absolutely clear that you have no problem with how that officer handled that girl(I guess you handle your daughter that way?), which leads me to believe you have no ability whatsoever in conflict resolution, much less people skills.

You want to talk about personal responsibility? How about the personal responsibility of the teachers and the administration to find a reasonable resolution to a nonviolent problem without calling the cops to do their job for them? How about the personal responsibility of the grown ass man(Deputy Dog) trained to handle conflict who can't seem to handle a nonviolent teenage girl without slamming her and dragging her like a sack of potatoes?

No it's not.... When I said professional does not mean you talk about work related things.... It just means you conduct yourself professional.... No language.", sex... Drunk or high stories as example..... How much patient care do you think would be going with everyone texting their BF/gf... Playing candy crush or whatever else you have to do... Think of a family member wanting something done for their mom or dad and find an aide playing on their cellphone.

The teacher was in the right I can see the outrage in the way the cop handled although I understand that physical force is sometimes necessary.
