OK, I'll ask you... is it not possible to have a professional phone call?

And really... you want me to really believe that for 8 or 10 hrs a day that the only conversations going on among him and his co-workers is shop talk? I'm supposed to believe that nonsense? Really?

I never said that.... You can talk about anything that you want but you can't talk like you do when you are hanging out with your buddies.... It has to be professional... Nothing that might offend someone that type of normal sh$t

Isn't our convo about cell phone use and whether their should be a rule against it in the classroom

No they aren't. Not using your phone in class isn't a ridiculous rule- it's just such a petty rule that you don't need to enforce it with the cops and violence. Dumbass.

The kid has to follow the rule or leave the class.... That's the rule.... If they just ignored it bc the kid gave them grief then I would pull out my phone and play madden all day every day when I was in school... I agree the cop may have went too far but she did need to be removed

The teacher was in the right I can see the outrage in the way the cop handled although I understand that physical force is sometimes necessary.

I know right? Sometimes you just gotta yank adolescent girls who are absolutely no threat to themselves or others out of their desk by the throat, slam them to the ground, and drag them across the room. These clowns must've just been too sheltered.

Ahhh... so you can have regular conversations then? Isn't it possible to have none offensive and professional conversations on a cellphone, as well?

What difference does it make in the grand scheme of things if you are standing next to me having a normal conversation vs me standing by myself on a cellphone with you having the same conversation?

What was the bigger disturbance: her cellphone or the cop body slamming her?

First of all, no one is saying that they should just ignore it as a first solution. You bring in the counselor or some other teacher she may actually happen to like, some reasonable adult in that school to talk to her and try to get her to leave on her own. If that doesn't work, call her parents and tell them to come pick her ass up. If, for whatever reason, they can't, suspend her and leave her alone. She's going to leave eventually. Suspending her isn't "ignoring" her, every kid in the class will see that she just got suspended for being obstinate about her cellphone and they learn the lesson.

Now, the only lesson they learned is that they can't trust the cops to be the bigger "man" and not assault them in such petty disputes. Great job, school administrators and law enforcement. You have essentially confirmed any biases those kids might have already had against the police.

I'm mostly worried for your family if you think this is an acceptable way to treat a teenage girl who isn't harming anyone. Please keep a calm and level head. Count to ten.

My family is fine.... We all love each other.... I teach my kids to be respectful, tough as h$ll, and to take care of themselves.... Never laid a hand on my wife but I do feel that some people need to be physically removed..... Getting an ass whipping is not the worst thing in the world to happen to someone... Did the cop go overboard.... Yes but she needed to be removed. After two administrators tried talking her out then it was time to remove her....

Can you not read.... We have moved on from wherher the cop was justified and dinkin and Ras are saying that not wanting someone to use a phone in class is ridiculous.

No we aren't. You just can't comprehend basic concepts such as overreacting to a nonviolent situation, or what we're typing quite clearly.

Sure it is possibe...but... Would you want to see nurses walking the halls of the hospital talking on their cell? I see no issue at all with a company policy prohibiting their use.

In the overall scheme of things, what is the difference between 2 people standing next to each other having a conversation and a person standing by themselves having a conversation on a cellphone?

I'm saying I think many of you grew up without seeing bad behavior up close Numbnuts....and as a result you're overly shocked when you see unfortunate reprecussions.

Your views on bad behavior are terribly warped if you think the girl's behavior was more egregious than the cop's behavior.
