Azzanni Out, Martin In?

Wow, let's run off T, that is the silliest. Sounds like the first hand knowledge, the timing was off, there is no good way to turn down a job like he was offered. I say let him come home just like Majors and Fulmer did, no need in makeing it bigger than it is. We all make mistakes, no telling what Kiffin told him. I say find him a spot, something he is good at, and can make an impact. And let him do his thing.

Go Vols!

His goal right now is to be an offensive coordinator very soon.

Tee won us a National Championship and we all appreciate that.

He did use our coaching interview to get a raise and stay at USC which was mostly to make his family happy it seems but many don't like the way he handled it and seemed to disrespect Tennessee too.

Coach Azz is a great recruiter and without great recruiting in the SEC your team will go down hill fast.

Coaches can learn and get better just like players can.

The questions about Tee are...

Is he really a great recruiter or was good recruiting a byproduct of being at USC and easy recruiting in California?

Is Tee really a good, solid coach that will make the QB's or the WR's much better?

Will Tee stay at UT very long or will he be gone as fast as another job is offered to him and disrupt our coaching consistency?

We're just now getting known for some consistency with coaches finally after such a coaching merry go round.

Is Tee really the solid answer we need to keep our Vols recruiting at a top 10 level and will our players and team really benefit and for how long?

Time will tell.

VFL...GBO!!!

OC for the Vols is like a top 50 position in all of college ball, is he ready. He is a proven winner, how does that career path go, OC at a mid-level, then hit the big time, come here and get foot back in the door, and take over for Debord I after about 3 seasons.

Go Vols!

Tennessee total offense 44th
Pittsburgh total offense 115th

You're really using that as an example? If so, would you mind throwing in UT's recruiting ranking vs Pitt's to make the comparison more fair?

Our air game was lights out when Chaney was here but bc of the defense nobody will ever remember.

Chaney also had better talent here, 11 out of 12 starters on the 2012 team had a NFL contract at one time
that team was loaded with talent...but old over the hill Debord has almost exactly the same offensive stats with less talent

Lets see how our receivers finish the year. Azzanni has certainly been dealt a bad hand with injuries and off the field issues the past two years. They really stepped up last week so hopefully they will continue to progress. Amazing to realize that 7 of our top 8 receivers (by yardage) including Hurd and Kamara are Freshman or Sophomores.

Azzanni is on this staff to recruit and he's worth his weight in gold for that fact. He's not going anywhere unless he accepts an OC position at a smaller school.

Tee Martin is dead to us and we will never offer him a job.

The people who are talking bad about Tee are either lying to theirselves or just ignorant. I would love to have him on this staff. For starters, he lead us to a national championship. Is that so easy to forget. Putting that aside, he is an amazing recruiter. Just as good as Azzani. I couldn't care less if he decided not to return once before or state an opinion on a then recruit. If those are the only two reasons you can come up with for not wanting him on this staff, you should reevaluate things. I said in another thread that you can't hold grudges in this business. I hope the coaches agree and do what is best for the team.

Azzani would be a HC at a small school but if he takes an OC position it would be at a power 5 school.

lol I don't think any big school is going to offer him a oc job. His receivers aren't even that good. And they are 5 star recruits. That tells you something.

If a guy like Tee wants the job and we're shopping around..there's no question we should hire him. Obviously we just hired DeBord, but Tee could take over QB or WR and be the OC in waiting. As much as Butch talks about VFL's and former players being invaluable....its a win, win.

And it was the same here when Chaney was calling the plays, so what point are you trying to make?

If we still had Chaney our receivers literally would be eating peanuts off of DB's and we'd be 6-0.

We have less talent? LOL. Maybe they're young, but we have a very talented team!

The only issue Chaney had was the running game, which Neal/Lane <<< Hurd

Hurd would put up great numbers on basically any team he'd play on. Neal/Lane not so much.

Sum it up, Chaney was a great hire on a bad Dooley staff. It's a shame how great our offense was that year but how bad our record was.

Keep laughing and maybe no power five school offers him the OC position right now but he certainly isn't going to take an OC position at a small school. Azzanni has already been the OC at Western Kentucky and passing game coordinator at Florida and here. He is currently making 350K so why would he take a pay cut to be an OC at a small school? Not happening. Azzanni is very well respected outside of Knoxville anyway.

btw, please name all these 5 star receivers on our roster. Malone is a true Sophomore and appears to be progressing nicely. Williams who was really a 4 star is coming off an ACL but still playing significant snaps as a true Freshman. Azzanni has lost 3 of his top receivers from last year to injury/suspension and so far Von Pearson is just not the same player after his summer of legal problems. Hard to blame Azzanni for that.
