Reagan also supported Planned Parenthood during his time, too. In fact majority of republicans did then. Does that bother you that Reagan supported the research from PP to help find a cure in Alzheimer's? Wonder what changed their minds to not support it over the years. Maybe to be more PC to get voter support? Whatever...
After reading a couple of the agreeing posts above your last one, I am curious. What kind of a world would all of you like to live in? Which republican candidates do you favor in the upcoming election? Why do you want your president to be so strongly religious and why that makes him a great candidate to lead the immense diversity of the American people?
I am fascinated by your way of thinking, vol4us, Ogbaby, volssam and others that I read more than post. Were you raised this way? Or did you find religion on your own? There's so many people in the world today that it's progressing aggressively at a rapid pace. It just seems to be so incredibly hard to be conservative now. Do you find yourself judging more people today than ever? I'm just curious. I have no idea what it's like to think and live life your way...
These are excellent questions, as are the rest.
I was raised in church by believing parents. Naturally you would think this is why I'm a Christian, but that's not the case since my parents can't save me. It wasn't until I was 15 that I was saved, and it wasn't until well into college that I made my faith my own. In fact, there are things that my parents and I disagree on, but those are minor in the grand scheme of things.
On the topic at hand, I won't actively support anything that goes against my Christian beliefs, but I can't worry if a portion of my Disney purchase goes to support Planned Parenthood, for example. I see my mom doing this and getting bitter about it at times, so I choose the path that leads to joy.
There is a seemingly increasing amount of evil in the world, but it's not my job to change everything or to judge. I can only change that which God allows me the opportunity to change. My faith is in Him, His sovereign rule, and His providence. I trust that even in an evil world with bad things so prevalent all around us, God is in control and calling out to us to run to Him. God calls me to be the light and the salt of the earth. It is not my light, but His that shines through me. Therefore, I can't judge anything but rather be reflecting His glory. It's His love and grace that gives me hope in people. In fact, it is through an evil world that His grace can shine the brightest.
Sorry to be long-winded, but the questions don't lend themselves to a quick response.
