I would love to think you're better than this. This is a case where both sides are wrong and deep down you know it. But your pride won't allow you to admit just how much this was instigated from both sides.

Just admit it for once both sides are equally wrong here and call it a day.

No... the civilian was in his driveway!! Somebody made a call (according to some other poster) about a illegally parked vehicle.

Really? Only an American cop would turn an (alleged) illegally parked car investigation into a potential gunfight on a man's driveway.

There was no reason for the cop to even get out of the car... he took his picture (to mimic the civilian) and he should have left. But no... he wanted to instigate the situation by getting out of his car and provoking a guy in his driveway and bark out silly assed commands about hands in his pocket/put that cigarette out nonsense.
Sick of these cops just bullying civilians on the roadways and in their homes.

Yeah, I'm not saying the cops are always in the right. I'm saying, citizens should use better judgment. If you are confrontational to anyone, not just cops, chances are they will be confrontational back.

Again, I'm not talking about who's in the right/who's in the wrong. I'm saying people need to be smarter and just relax.

The cop confronted the civilian... not the other way around. The civilian was on his own damn property and this cop chose to confront him by getting out of the car and approaching him.

Didn't you see that on the video?

Haven't had time to watch it yet, probably will later tonight. I'm not even talking about this video, but in general. If people are confrontational, the chances of something tragic happen are a lot higher than if they would just comply.
Do you disagree?

I agree. But the civilian had a right to be confrontational, this cop was coming on his property drawing guns and telling him to get his hands out his pocket and all of this other bulls&&t...

You need to watch the video.

The fact is that no crime had even been committed, yet a gun was drawn by the cop.

Think about how silly that is.

Guy refused to take his hand out of his pocket. Knowing full well cops are probably way more on edge right now with the recent cop killings.

Think about how silly that is. You can justify how the cop was wrong all day long. But this is a case where both sides are equally wrong. And sadly you can't see past your own hatred long enough to admit it.

Are you waving it around like an idiot or transporting in to your home after a trap meet with some buddies....

If the cop saw him waving it around like an idiot, then he would have arrested him. But that wasn't even the reason for the call (allegedly).

And the only person I saw brandishing a gun and escalating the situation like an idiot was this cop. Maybe he should go to jail for assault.

Depends on what?

18 U.S.C. 922(g) is the federal law that prohibits anyone ever convicted of any felony to ever possess any firearm either inside or outside of his home. The federal punishment for firearm possession by a felon is up to 10 years in prison. There are many other federal gun ownership restrictions.

To answer your question. Yes it's illegal as ****.

I agree...

That cop wasn't acting like somebody that was on edge... he stalked the guy in his cul de sac, snapped pictures of the guys boat/truck and then popped out of the car knowing good and damn well that he was going to get a more escalated reaction out of the civilian... plus the guy was on his own property.

No reason or excuse for that cop to to get out of the car.

Again, felons being prohibited from having guns is a recent phenomena and needs to be challenged in court...

But either way, if this cop really thought this guy had a gun and ran his plates and found out that he was a felon, then he would have tried to arrest him.

Obviously, the cop had no grounds to arrest him.

So... Your retort to my answer to your question of "is it illegal for a guy to have a gun on his own property". Was.. " well it's a stupid law anyways ".

Classic.

Cops love to enforce stupid laws anyways... all the more reason to have certain level of disdain for them if they don't side with the people and The Constitution vs the politicians.

My wife got stopped today for violating a stupid traffic law.

She got a warning. Wasn't beaten. Shot or arrested.

That's not a good analogy. Being asked to get out of the car or pull you hands out of your pockets is not equatable to getting physically hurt or having your property stolen. If you are being asked something unreasonable or being harassed, then you need to stand up for yourself and report it. But if you want to get uppity over a simple request, you aren't being very smart.

Also... I still haven't gotten an answer from anyone on this, but is it illegal to have a gun in your driveway?

This was your entire question, the same one OB replied to. Unless you're using some sort of cryptic cider there is no second half. So no... I did not ignore it. I simply answered your question.
