The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Looks like Mason is recruiting his arse off! LOL:eek:lol::lol:

I've never seen a more pathetic show at recruiting.

In the past month alone, a number of their top targets have chosen Boise State, Yale, Kansas State, UNC, and Duke over Vandy.

Not only are they conparable or better academically than the aforementioned, they're also the only SEC team. I seriously can't figure out how Mason and his staff can be so HORRIBLE at recruiting. Hell, Bobby Johnson was able to sell Vandy better at a time when they weren't winning any games at all.

Pretty soon Mason will be recruiting D2 type players. If I were a player that could make it academically in the Patriot or Ivy League Leagues there's no way i'd be going to Nashville

Just happened earlier this week. That new tool/insider they've got over at Scout had been hinting for a while that this Strother kid (OT) from Cal was going to pull the trigger any day.

Of course he pulled the trigger, but he pulled it for Yale.

Yale is a great school to go to if you make good enough scores to get in.

I don't understand it. UT wins a bowl game last year (against a team which really didn't want to be there) and all the media is hopping on their bandwagon and predicting big things for them this year.

On the mid-day show on 94.9-FM, one of the sports talk show hosts there said he thinks UT can get to the national championship this year. He predicted a 4-0 start -- including wins over Oklahoma and Florida.

Several other talk show hosts are predicting they will compete with Georgia for the SEC East title this year.

They have had a couple of big recruiting classes, but they still haven't proven they can play with the top SEC teams. They haven't beaten Florida since Zook coached there. They haven't beaten Georgia or Alabama since the Fulmer era.

Dobbs is a better-than-average quarterback but he's not the next coming of Peyton Manning. Last year against Vanderbilt he threw four interceptions.

Derek Dooley also had some big recruiting classes and won a bowl game at UT, but they never accomplished that much in his tenure. What makes all these sports talk show "experts" think Butch Jones will be any different?

Ok so:

1) We beat Georgia in 2009
2) Dobbs threw 2 interceptions against Vandy
3) Dooley never had a "big" class
4) Dooley didn't win a bowl game.

This is why no one wants to talk football with Vandy fans.

That entire thread proved to me that none of the posters on vandymania actually graduated from Vanderbilt. No one with a brain would type up some of the things being said in there.

Their ignorance about the talent level at Tennessee is maddening.

When that guy says "a couple of big recruiting classes," does he realize he's referring to one that was almost entirely composed of freshmen last year and another that hasn't played a single snap for Tennessee?

Yes. Somehow, they have deluded themselves into thinking that we have had elite level every year and just somehow wasted it. They refuse to acknowledge how bad this program had cratered and gone the even more impressively stupid route of "no, there was no dropoff...Ewetee has just sucked/underperformed because they wasted their immense talent."

They are also leading the charge on the whole "Butch is a terrible head coach" false narrative so they don't break down in tears thinking about the medieval level ass kicking they are about to receive on a yearly basis.

I heard about the Justin Hunter incident yesterday on the evening news and thought to myself, "I wonder how long it will take the folks at vandymania to spin this into a jab at UT"

Sure enough, I take a peak this morning and the top thread reads, "Vawl for life Justin Hunter, ladies & gentlemen. I wonder why that 4.4. speed didn't help him get away? Perhaps he ran a bad route." That didn't take long.

Yeah, our players can't all be choir boys like Vanderbilt's. Oh what's that? They had 4 rapists running around that their sleezebag coach covered for? Oops, my mistake.

those posters over there have nothing else to talk about. All they can do is talk about other teams & bash them bc they have nothing to look forward to on the field. Absolutely nothing.

If Vandy fans found a way to implicate both their team and Tennessee in a way that meant both teams got the death penalty, they would do it in a heartbeat. I'm convinced that football to them is nothing more than an opportunity to either beat Tennessee (once every 30 years or so) or watch Tennessee lose and gloat.

Jordan Cunningham to transfer to UNC.

UNC is a dumpster fire with all the recent NCAA investigations.

I think that says something about Vandy's situation

There is no doubt in my mind that they would eagerly turn themselves in and get the death penalty as long as TN did too.

The funny thing about that situation is that most of VM is convinced that he was just a total bust.

He had fairly average stats for a true freshman (15 catches for 123 yards) but then dropped off to less than 50 yards on four catches.

Rather than just admit that their OC was HORRIBLE and that their QB carousel didn't make things any better, they just throw this kid under the bus because it makes them feel better to blame all of their problems on JF's recruiting.

I don't know what leg they feel they have to stand on and criticize UT this season. They seem to expect us to bust with 8 wins and be a disappointment, but I've seen them projected to go winless in the sec and maybe lose between one and three of their OOC games. So we get around 8-4 and possibly a bowl win and they are between 1-11 and 3-9, yet somehow we suck? Weird.

It's funny how that works isn't it? The same guy on vandymania that wrote, "Last season is not reality since it has come and gone. Only right now is reality. If we insist on basing the future which has yet to exist on a past which no longer exists, then this season has no chance," is probably the same guy that would claim UT is in for another disappointing season because they have been pretty bad to average since 2008.

I wonder which will get more attention(posts or threads started) on VM this season, UT losing a game or Vandy winning a game. I feel the answer is obvious.lol
