Once again I have to correct you. The "if" is not attributable to Tyndall. It is the writer's "if".
Wrong answer. Coach T, "You know we thought that Ian Chiles would be a guy that would come in as a fifth year guy and assume that point guard position but it just hasn't happened yet." Reporter question that followed, "Is Ian a guy that is more of a point guard if he gets healthy and gets going?" Coach T, "Well, I think Ian is a little more of a natural fit than Kevin but with that being said, I think Ian is more of a combo guard who thinks shoot first, pass second. He might think shoot first, shoot second, shoot third, pass fourth."I bet that Lopez would have played 5-10 minutes per game spelling Chiles if things would have played out as Donnie had hoped.
I really was pulling for him. Austin-East used to dominate basketball in Knoxville. I always pull for those guys. And I'm a cracker from the west side.
BTW, Lopez was the best dressed person in the TBA during the USCe game last weekend. I expect that he will be very successful in his career. He seems to be a very bright young man.
Then please explain why, as someone else said, why do you guys fall all over each other trying to say there was no way he could have been the starting point guard every time his name.is mentioned? None of you had any idea of how good he was this year. Coach T did.

You know I didn't say that. You just made it up or couldn't comprehend, one or the other.By this logic, couldn't we argue that to you, Lopez playing means more than wins. We don't "fall over each other" putting him down whenever he's mentioned, we respond to you calling him the difference between Sweet 16 and a Championship with nothing to base your facts off of.
What really amazes me is that after all that transpired, not a single one of you has the fortitude to say, yeah, he might have started at the point. You continue to throw out all of this bogus reasons why he couldn't while I continually produce the evidence to say it was likely. In the meantime, we might have made the Big Dance if we had a point guard. Sad to say the least.

OK. I'll do it 1, 2, 3 for you:
1. Brandon Lopez had run the point for three years going against the Martin first teams.
2. When the Vols opened practice, he was the lead point guard. After Chiles injury, he was the only point guard.
3. Donnie Tyndall singled him, Josh, and Armani out as being the three team leaders. He made the comment that Brandon was right there with the other two as far as leadership.
4. As Brandon continued to impress, Coach T started saying he would play 10 minutes a game but soon moved that to 20. He then said he may be the starter.
5. Going back to high school, he was an All-State player averaging 25+ points a game, so he was a baller. To think he had not improved greatly in 3 years on the Vol basketball team is ludicrous.
6. To think he would have not been the starting point guard when we had no other when Chiles walked in injured is also ludicrous.
7. Perfect size (PPI) for a point guard and very explosive.
8. Then you guys jump on the bandwagon against him when you realize that if a point guard had sat on the bench for the entire Martin tenure and suddenly became a star, that would look not look good. Instead of a Sweet 16, it could have been a national championship.

A optimist over somebody who is "butt hurt" over a coach leaving because he got his feelings hurt, jmo
I agree with butchna , what's it matter what SD thinks of Lopez ?
If you agree with him, fine, but let's drop the act that he's some poor old man who's being bullied for having an opinion. You both know good and well that's not why he starts getting into arguments with what seems like about 80% of the posters on here. Acting like he's just some "optimist" posting here is blatantly dishonest.

All I can say is that if you think these players don't read these posts, I've got a real deal for you on a bridge in Brooklyn. He is graduating. He would rather get on with his life than to be subject to the abuse of fans like you and your cohorts. There is absolutely nothing to keep a basketball player from reading these forums everyday. It is taboo, so you don't know it. You probably think they don't look at p--n sites, either, right? PS Brandon knows who has supported him, and who has not. Take it to the bank!!If he was going to be the starter this year, then why does he not just stay and start next year? We desperately need a pg. CDT should be begging him to stay. Oh Yeah! I forgot. All the negative posting on VN ran he and CCM off.
