Gun control debate (merged)

Could belong in the IRS thread or the gun thread. But I'm fairly sure someone just about messed their pants when they were able to shut a gun dealer down as well as illegally seizing their property.

Small business owners forced to battle IRS over seized bank accounts | Fox News

Clyde was accused of what's known as "structuring" -- that is, making deposits deliberately calculated to skirt reporting requirements -- because he made frequent deposits just under $10,000.

But Clyde says he only did that because of his insurance policy.

While most transactions at Clyde Armory are not in cash, the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Conn., and the potential for new firearms laws, drove sales. Clyde's business made millions of dollars, about 15 percent of it in cash transactions. Clyde's business manager made daily deposits, and based on the dollar value of his insurance policy -- capped at $10,000 -- the company policy was to not ever hold more than $10,000 cash.

There will always be more gun fun from the Loony Left. They hate the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms that it's always bound to happen.

You think it all went down as Clyde has claimed or is there something more going on?

I've never done business with them, but they have a reputation as being good folks.

And add this Administration's disdain for anything firearm related and it does raise suspicions There are other motives at work.

Very few things make me loathe government as much as stories like this. I understand the IRS and other agencies set rules to fix ongoing illegal behavior. But this is absolutely ridiculous if true. My friend has a jewelry store and he takes huge sums of cash in and out of the country and loose diamonds back in. He explained the hoops, paperwork, and delays he must endure. What a hassle.

I'm keeping an eye on this decision in California since it likely will affect other States:

Gun rights groups await judge's ruling on California's 'microstamping' law | Fox News

California's gun laws are among the nation's strictest, but a looming decision in a federal lawsuit could effectively ban handguns altogether in the Golden State, according to plaintiffs who want a judge to toss out a state law requiring all new handguns to be equipped with technology that "stamps" each shell casing with a traceable mark.

The problem with the “microstamping” law, which was signed into law by then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007 but only took effect in 2013, is that it relies on an unworkable technology, according to gun manufacturers and attorneys for the Second Amendment Foundation and Calguns Foundation. If guns without the technology can't be sold in California, and gun manufacturers can't implement the technology, the law is, for practical purposes, a handgun ban that violates the Second Amendment, goes the argument.

I'd be pretty happy if the manufacturers got together like Smith and Wesson along with Ruger and stopped all handguns sales to anyone in California. And by anyone I mean LE and everyone. Probably won't happen, but it might be nice.

Well in LiberalWorld that would stop all the gun violence, so sure, it's worth a try. :loco:

Fiore takes heat over

Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, a conservative Las Vegas Republican, talked about her bill that would allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry firearms on Nevada campuses.

“If these young, hot little girls on campus have a firearm, I wonder how many men will want to assault them,” Fiore was quoted as saying. “The sexual assaults that are occurring would go down once these sexual predators get a bullet in their head.”

Minority Leader Marilyn Kirkpatrick, D-North Las Vegas, issued a statement Wednesday calling Fiore’s comments sexist and violent.

“While we recognize the magnitude of the issue of sexual assault on college campuses, violence is never an answer to violence,” Dreitzer said.

Yeah, because a rape victim is so morally superior to the one who saves the taxpayers a lot of money by removing the problem.

Regarding Dreitzer's statement, violence (or the threat of violence) is frequently the answer to violence. Any child who has confronted a bully, any adult who has defended life and property, any LEO who has used a weapon to protect the public can attest to the stupidity of Dreitzer's statement.

Nah, they can just talk them out of it. Rapists can be swayed by words alone to see the err of their ways.

Worked for Andy Dufresne.

Remember the progressive mantra: it's sexist to suggest women protect themselves. We should be teaching men not to rape... Nevermind the fact that all the bull crap studies are just that....bs.

Of course ignoring the obvious sexism that occurs when they imply that men and men alone are rapists.

This is where I disagree with every Dem that has probably ever lived. I look at violent people as bullies. The only way to stop a bully is to put a fist back in his/her face.

Regardless of gun laws, bad people are still going to do bad things. Having good citizens armed is a good deterant. JMO.

If violence never begat violence then the bad guys (those prone to violence to get what they wanted) would always win.
