Hyperbole was rather thick in the post you're referring to and, though I can't speak for the other poster, the inference was, I believe, that, in comparison to Sanford, Debord was a janitor.

Which...quite honestly...is a little over the top but, given their respective recent positions in the world of football, is quite appropriate.

We hired a dude who was teaching swimming, track, and the hammer throw to come and call plays against the best athletes, best defensive coordinators, and best head coaches, this side of amatuer sports; calling him a janitor in comparison to his immediate competitors is pretty sarcastic but.....it fit quite well with his post.

There was mention that he was being groomed to become the Michigan AD. Then there were some changes at the admin...or he missed coaching football. Not sure, but matters not as he is the OC that CBJ hired. I want to see how offensive play calling changes. I hope he is of the mindset to keep running plays that are working until the opponent stops it...

Janitor Debord? Embarrassing.

Within the last three hours, since I made the comment that I didn't believe VN had anyone that was such an asshat that they would type something stupid in the Letter to Holloway thread, not only did I get proven wrong there, but it was followed up with an asshat calling our OC, who has yet to call a single play here, Janitor Debord.

We don't always see eye to eye Ron, but in this case I wholeheartedly agree with you.

It is nothing short of embarrassing.

Luckily I was at home, alone. I didn't have to hold back. There is now a nice printed copy of it hanging in my classroom waiting for my students tonight.....and one line from it written neatly on the white board.

"Do today what you may not be able to tomorrow"

Cliffs Notes?

I mean...he called him a janitor, he didn't smack his mama.

Debord is a lame hire. Period. Spin it in which ever way makes you feel better but, that's the prevailing opinion--doesn't mean he's doomed to fail nor the opposite but, people vent on message boards. It is what it is.

That being said...we still have a very promising season ahead of us, with as talented a roster as I can remember in recent memory.

9 wins or bust in 2015.
This, that, and everything else.

Who would you rather have as an OC? Kiffin or Debord?

I'll take Debord over Kiffin anytime.

Kiffin runs a Pro-Style offense, Jones runs a spread...it wouldn't work.

But...who do I believe is a better OC? Kiffin, hands down.

But...he's been coaching football, right?

Sure, arena football translates well...

And I'm sure DeBord spent no time watching or studying football during the 2 years he was the AD in waiting at UM.

Regardless, all of this has been beat to death, only time will tell, but it isn't an automatic mistake in my book.

Agreed. It's been beaten to death.

By the way...I know that resume...who is it?? Can't for the life of me remember.

I'm eager to see what Debord brings to the offense. I think he'll mix up the OL scheme and finally bring some diversification to that group.

Debord has been studying tOSU's offense in great detail for over two years now. I'm sure he'll implement some of the same style.

I think he will really help our run game though. You'll see a lot more from our OL. Different splits, shades, pulling H-back, and small different techniques.
