Just like saban is the brains behind the D at bama i think Butch runs the O here. Debord should be huge for the oline at the very least and thats the #1 concern. Butch hasnt let me down yet so he gets the benefit of the doubt from me until proven otherwise.

And we have dealt with the brilliant Saban hires in Dooley and Sunseri.

Butch knows this guy and probably doesn't think it's as big a risk..

Its not a big risk, just like sunseri and dooley looked great under saban, debord should be sheltered under butch. I think because hes so personable and easy to like we dont see that butch is every bit as controlling of the program as saban is at bama. Hes 100% in control of every aspect and what he says goes, hes just not a dick about it like nicky.

I hope Butch knows what hes doing. If this hire flops its going to eat up every bit of good will hes earned.

I agree with all your post but this.

We are mainly going to have Sr's and Jr's in the trenches in my opinion with some younger guys backing them up.

OL -
Mack Crowder - Sr.
Kyler Kerbyson - Sr.
Marcus Jackson - Sr.
Dontavious Blair - RS Jr.
Dylan Weisman - JR

DL -
Curt Maggitt - RS Sr
Danny O'Brien - RS JR
Owen Williams - SR
Latroy Lewis - RSJR
Corey Vereen - JR

That's 10 out of the 18 players in the two deep on the line that will be Jr's or older. With many of them in line to start.

If Blair has improved....

I think it will be:

Tackles: Blair and Richmond
Guards: Jackson and Robertson
Center: Weisman, Crowder, or Thomas

Also, I know we have several juniors and seniors on the O-line, but if they weren't that impressive last year then what will change? Most improvements happen the first couple of years in the program, not the last year.

Ends: Maggitt, Barnett, Vereen, and Phillips
Tackles: O'Brien, McKenzie, Williams, and Tuttle.

Plus the LB core will be Reeves Maybin, Bates, Weathers, and McDowell. I think the Defense will be solid, but will still need several Freshman to step up.

I do think we win 7 or 8 in the regular season.

Butch said Richmond was LT. I'd expect Blair and Kendrick or Kerby to be tackles opening day.

Big mystery to me is the safeties.

Randolph and TK at safety, mcneil first off the bench, gaulden at nickel and sutton and martin at corner with mosely first off the bench there.

I only said tackles instead of LT or RT because I thought if Richmond was ready, he would be LT and Blair as RT.

I do agree that Kerbyson or Kendrick could make the lineup if Richmond needs time.

As far as safety, is the mystery the starters or the backups? I imagine Randolph and Kelly will be the starting safeties.

Has a non EE freshmen LT ever started in the sec? That's a tall order. I'm sure it's possible, but I'm hoping for a redshirt for Jones and Richmond.

McNeil was still starting at the end of the year wasn't he?
