Definitely agree there are good arguments in our favor. Was just pointing out it's not an open/shut case.

For example, UGA leads us in the head to head match up, has more 10 win seasons, more bowl wins, and is within a reasonable range of our all time SEC championships, consensus national titles, and bowl game appearances. One measure of relevance is number of years with at least a week ranked in the top 25. Georgia has only had four or so seasons since the 1960s where they didn't spend at least a week in the top 25. We've had 6 of those in the last 7 years, I believe. Others in the SEC have faired better than us in that measure in recent decades.

Florida clearly has dominated for at least the last 30 years, and has more consensus national titles. And on and on.

Anyway. The whole debate put into perspective for me how far we've fallen, especially the last 6 or 7 years. The guys I debated weren't even SEC fans. They thought it was laughable I was even making the arguments in favor of Tennessee.

I still absolutely think we belong in the upper echelon of the SEC right alongside Bama, Florida, UGA, LSU and Auburn. But we need to win a lot of ball games these next few years to truly distinguish ourselves again.

We can throw numbers at each other all day. My original point was the caller asked Paul F. who was #2 in the SEC for titles and Paul refused to say TN. Go Vols!!!!

Wait, which UF coach is Dooley? First it was Muschamp now Mac.

Muschamp did things at Florida that Dooley never even came close to doing (i.e. beating their main rivals; including Tennessee multiple times). So while he was a failure by Florida standards he still owned "us," so the comparison is really apples to cow terds.

I was going to say that your teams have not been as bad as ours the last few years, then I remembered you guys did go 4 - 8 and was about to change my mind, then I remembered that even in your worst years you still beat us........so

Here's to hopefully seeing you guys suck as bad as we did. :hi:

I never compared Muschamp to Dooley because Muschamp at least had expertise on one side of the ball.

All Dooley knew how to coach was WRs. And the good ones we had under him still seemed to underachieve in big games.

I really did lol at this.

I haven't compared either to Dooley. I was responding to the post about trying to talk yourself into thinking its a good class like TN fans did with Dooley. Muschamp and Mac were both more qualified for a job like Florida than Dooley ever was for TN. As bad as muschamp was he can coach and recruit circles around Dooley.

I personally think Mac will do well as a coach. I don't know about his recruiting abilities but it's not off to a good start.

1 for 3 on the Big 3. Maybe 2.
Positive chatter on Ivey and Cowart the last couple days. CeCe to Bama is my guess.

6-7 4*(Ryan Davis,Lamar Jackson, Cronkite, St. Louis, Dillon, Zuinga, Williamson, Pellage and Callaway) Maybe a surprise like Scarlett.

Rest 3* and a couple of 2*

Based of 247 composite.

Dude is a mentor to a criminal piece of trash and was eating in the cafeteria before the verdict. That's probably the most Byron De'Vinner thing I've ever heard.

If my son was "mentored" by this guy and was staring at 15 years in prison, you can rest assured he wouldn't spend another minute with him.

Gotcha. Definitely agree there. I probably took your original post on too much of a tangent. My apologies.

What's truly shocking is the lyrical knowledge here of what underwhelming recruiting looks like.
