But we would still have to hire an OC to replace Jake.

Yes. Two hires. OC and QC.

I was stumped when I first saw it. Thought someone was just making an odd typo with the Q instead of the O.

Edit: But then again..........I'm a Maroon.

It's not a home run but I could live with the following scenario:

Debord as Quality Control and help all over the board especially OL and TE,

Z as Co-OC and WR coach

Roper Co-OC and QB coach

I don't see roper being here but just throwing it out there as one of those I wouldn't want either as sole OC but I'll take a triple threat combo of them.

Correct, hence the other names that are coming out :hi:

I'm not following. We lost one coach (Jake), but we're going to replace him with two coaches (DeBord as QC and an unnamed OC)?

Did we also lose a QC or GA, or were we down one coach already?

Yes. Terry Fair left to take a position coach job, and we reportedly may also lose another QC guy. So we have a QC slot open.

Colorado State hires Tennessee assistant Terry Fair

We lost a QC when Terry Fair left to be the db coach at Colorado st.

There's always enough talent on Florida's roster to have an offense better than what they have trotted out there the past few years. Always.

You are right that on paper they have had a lot of talent. However, as many OC's as they have had in the past few years and none of them have been very successful, when does the paper talent not come to fruition and its actually players not playing well instead of the coaches?

Would we want Roper here? He didn't exactly have Floridas offense moving on all cylinders..

No it certainly wasn't firing on all cylinders but it was better than the year before despite Muschamp hitching his wagon to Driskel until he could no longer do that. When you go through as many OC's as Muschamp did and fail to have an offense the problem likely isn't the OCs. Muschamp's one good year at UF (2012) the Gators fielded a team reminiscent of Mizzou's this year -- the ugliest offense ever + an elite defense. They were the sort of grind it out team that was painful to watch, nothing pretty about their games, but they kept winning due to their defense.

Roper's work at Duke was good, his mentor, as we know, is outstanding and UF under Muschamp a trainwreck of epic proportions so folks don't really hold one year against Roper. It was yet another system switch and he had a mishmash of player types to work with installing a new offense.

That's not an endorsement of Roper - I'm fairly neutral to all these candidates - but I wouldn't hold UF against him.

Roper seems odd. UF offense was one of the ugliest of any in recent memory.

i don't see us going the Roper route unless it's QB coach. In that case I wouldn't blame Jones for being willing to answer his call and listen. No way he hired him as full OC or something

Yes, according to de1conley Anthony Parker is out as one QC guy. He says DeBord is his replacement FWIW

Ok. I'll admit. I went ahead and did this last night, just in case.

I sure hope I don't look silly because of it.

We have three vacated spots and need some sort of bump in title and pay to keep ZA happy. So it's reasonable to expect DeBord here in some capacity.

CBJ reaffirmed that the offense will not be changing, we will not be tinkering with our system and we are looking first and foremost for a good fit with our existing staff and system. So the apple isn't going to fall far from the tree; in fact, it's probably on it.

Rucker just said on the radio that if he had to name a favorite to land the OC job that it would be Debord. He mentioned Mike Canada as well. He said Azzanni would like a promotion of some sort. Doesn't see Jancek leaving due to what he has coming in for the next couple of years.
