I agree. I would be disappointed if Azzanni left. It also wouldn't be the end of the world. Would hurt Preston Williams's recruitment and maybe a couple others but we'd survive.

If PW reaffirmed as was posted today and a new OC has not been named/ hired, not sure it's something to worry about now. Jmo

If Butch hores Debord as OC I will also question that selection. That's what weezer isn't giving me credit for. I don't like that Debord is an option honestly. But I also know that even obsessed people like us don't truly know jack about what it takes to be a coordinator.

I don't know. Just kinda tired of the extremism on the recruiting forum.

I gave ya an upvote for your last sentence BUT I'm gonna get real concerned if Butch hores Debord. I mean I know some recruits probably swing that way and there's that whole father figure thing but I'd like to think those that do would have higher standards with regard to looks. :)

Glossing through his posts, he doesn't seem to know much. He's got McDowell starting at safety in his 2015 lineup projections LOL.

I hope you are right. I've finally accepted De-bored, but I am not prepared for that other crap.

I'll be OK if Butch "hores" Debord out. :)

Just to really be frank and totally honest, what you, I, or anyone else says on this message board, drunk, stoned, or sober really doesn't matter.

That is a dangerous position to take, especially with something like a message board that is all but a permanent record.

Have you ever read "The System"? Overall I wouldn't recommend it, but there are some very interesting parts about UT. One was that UT/Hamilton were all over Mike Leach right before UT hired Kiff. Leach was in talks with both Kansas and Washington State. Leach's agent flat rejected overtures from UT due to Fulmer still being the coach. That would have been an interesting hire, especially because he had been out of coaching for two years and that apparently makes one a untouchable dinasour. I digress...

Perhaps more pertinent to this conversation was the impact that UT message boards had on the Kiff/Orange Pride fiasco. Ultimately that is more evidence that what is said here (and other similar places) does matter. Not that this specifically applies directly to what I have seen to the DeBord conversation, but I truly believe that is only a matter of time before some careless statements made 'in jest' or 'typing while drunk' or just 'IMHO' or otherwise, will end up with a big fat defamation lawsuit on their hands.

EDIT: Another interesting part of the book 'The System' was about Leach dealing with defections when he first started coaching at WSU. He had several disgruntled players leave which sparked a huge investigation into his methods, clouded by the Texas Tech fiasco. One interesting point made was that when Alvarez took over at Wisconsin, he lost 55 players in one year. Fifty five.

I'm not for or against DeBord, but I am totally against hirings being held hostage to other staff members who threaten to walk if they don't get promoted. If the rumors are true (and that is highly unlikely given the track record here) then Azzanni is basically saying that he will take his ball and go home if he doesn't get what he wants, but he feels he deserves a huge promotion because he is a good team player willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Those two positions cannot co-exist.

Ron Swanson I am hoping and praying that what you posted is exactly what's going on- was it from a respected and legit poster on VQ? Just when that calmed me down now we get this other double bad news that I am hoping is NOT accurate- don't want to lose Azzani! Has anyone else heard anything about Azzani? Don't know why he would just up and leave especially if he doesn't get the CMU job.... My nerves!!!!

Im not listening to anything on the football forum, they could very well be right, but they are wrong most the time cause its always worst case scenario and i like to stay a little positive.

So I'm saying Debord is the guy, we keep CZA but have to bump him up to about 400k and make him passing game coordinator or something like that.

It's called freedom of expression. This is an opinion based forum. Things we discuss here have no impact on what Butch or anybody over at UT does. In this country it's perfectly legal and within your rights to be the most bigoted SOB you want to be. You can't be discriminatory in hiring and such but you are free to express yourself any way you want as long as you don't harm others in doing so.

Now, as far as slander goes, you can't say things that are blatantly untrue about someone without risk. You can state your opinion as to whether someone would be a good coach or player. You can report what you have heard from others. Again, this is opinion based forum, and 99% of the stuff posted here is opinion and thus 99% of it is 100% worthless.

If true - and I pray that it is not - I am still attempting to understand why Butch would hire a guy as his OC that has been on a downward trajectory in his career for over 10 years to the point of actually being out of coaching the last two. Who does that and succeeds?

If he is coming as a quality control guy to primarily help Mahoney - no problem. He has clearly demonstrated he can coach O-line successfully.

Cat why would he leave now? Because he supposedly didn't get the OC job so he quit?! Seems like that kind of unprofessional attitude wouldn't help him in his career long term. Hoping Ron Swanson was right everyone has forgotten what he shared apparantly....

I'd be really surprised if Azzanni leaves for any job but the CMU HC spot, and if he took that I wouldn't blame him. It's not often a position coach gets offered a head coaching job and that would be a great opportunity for him.

Debord is actually a decent play caller and would drastically help the oline. People act like we just hired Derek dooley to run the offense. Plus take what you hear over there with a grain of salt.

LMAO someone said Azzanni isn't ready to be OC because his hairline is only in the recession phase. Debord will hold the fort while the rest of the hair falls out.

Why would anyone believe a rumor that involves Baggett coming back? That's just a lazy ass attempt to make something up.

The more I think of Debord and Butchs comments of taking this as a chance to better his offense not change it. We struggled with short yardage the past two years. Debord strength is his run game. He has had tons of success with the run game. This could be Butch bringing him on to help coordinate the run game to fix those short yardage issues. While Butch and rest of O staff makes sure the foundation is intact and we continue to be innovative. I don't like full title but Co-title I can deal with. Quality control would be even better while bumping Z and Sheridan. Then G gets RC
