To my knowledge I think Butch has already taken this one over along with Mahoney. And the CB from Bartow is a great sign since he is usually one of the best in the business and has alot of connections

Have you heard anything about how UGA feels on Allen? With all of these in-state OL offers, it seems they might not be confident.

He wasn't gonna say but now that you asked he must divulge, its the warrior's code.

It does not matter if he wanted to stay or not. A new HC should never have his hands tied by being told he has to keep Coach X, Y or Z from the previous staff. A good coach would never agree to it in the first place. He will bring in his own staff of his people.

Never said Jones should've been FORCED to keep him. I'm saying he should've reached the conclusion to keep him on his own.

CDM was dealt a very challenging hand last season. I think he made the best of a very difficult situation. The one positive I take away from last season is that the OL as a whole improved over the course of the season. There is still a ways to go, but we are building from some positive momentum. Now that the culture of not only the OL but the whole team has changed for the better, improvement can be focused on technique and strength. CDM has to feel much better about where we are now.

No doubt Pittman is an excellent OL coach. But he never faced the mess CDM had to manage last season. I will interested to see if next year's OL takes the next step. I think they will. If CBJ felt he needed a better OL coach, he would have no problem getting anyone he wanted. The program is at the point where coaches want to come here.

I'm not so sure about that. The quality of defensive competition dropped off significantly in November, minus Missouri who completely wrecked us up front. And the mobility of Dobbs masked most of the problems in the other games he played.

Ok if pittman was such a great oline coach where are the fruits of his labor as far as recruits go? Shouldnt we have a nicely stocked depth chart of upperclassmen from 3 years ago?

Ertel, you're better than that. Do a little research. He was fired before he signed a class with us. Look at the stellar OL recruits he took to arky after he was fired. That's where the fruits of his labor are. Pittman was here less than a year so he didn't sign any OL recruits.

I agree up to a point. You're right that the talent level of DL competition dropped over the last 4 games. What we didn't see was the OL being overpowered on almost each and every play. Most of the time they held their own. And I think we need to give them credit where credit is due.

Not taking sides but how was Butch supposed to know that Pittman was so much better than Mahoney? Would it have been the stockpile of O-Linemen that Pittman had brought in (including all the 4* tackles that were waiting in the wings). I'm not sure what an expert looks at to grade either one of these coaches but I believe that unless each coach has been in an identical situation it would be hard to really compare them.
I seem to remember much complaining that CBJ had never recruited against these cut-throat SEC coaches and that he would be chewed up and spit out by them. I don't hear much of that anymore. Just saying.
