'15 MD OT Pat Allen

Not taking sides but how was Butch supposed to know that Pittman was so much better than Mahoney? Would it have been the stockpile of O-Linemen that Pittman had brought in (including all the 4* tackles that were waiting in the wings). I'm not sure what an expert looks at to grade either one of these coaches but I believe that unless each coach has been in an identical situation it would be hard to really compare them.
I seem to remember much complaining that CBJ had never recruited against these cut-throat SEC coaches and that he would be chewed up and spit out by them. I don't hear much of that anymore. Just saying.

You don't hire a coach then tell him who to bring with him. However, there's something to be said for an assistant coach when all his position players make a case for him to stay on...

I was told the family he lives with are big UT fans and alumni, but it will be absolutely amazing if anybody outside of the big 2 in the state of Ala gets him.

I'm not so sure about that. The quality of defensive competition dropped off significantly in November, minus Missouri who completely wrecked us up front. And the mobility of Dobbs masked most of the problems in the other games he played.

You missed the Chatt game? Among other early games?

He didnt grow up being exposed to the culture of CFB and I don't think he's lived in Alabama long enough to have been brainwashed yet.

I don't know...maybe because we had one of our best offensive years ever when Pittman was on the staff?

I'm sorry, but I don't believe that for a minute. All I remember was the nonstop VN criticism of the OL because they couldn't run block and had no push. Let's not rewrite history just to support an agenda.

I have not been overly impressed with the OL we have brought in over the last 2 years. The best of the bunch has been Robertson and he was a DT recruit. Mahoney has to get some of the blame. We will go into next year with huge question marks at both OT positions. If Mahoney can land Allen and get something out of Blair then I think he will have proven his value. The production of the OT position is going to make or break him.

Definitely agree. Last year's OL recruiting class needed more recruits, especially OT.

The 2013 class has not provided much help either. We signed Wiseman, Sanders and Kendrick. Wiseman and Sanders were not very good even as back-ups. Kendrick showed some potential but cannot seem to find his way out of the Jones' doghouse.

How the heck are you going to say that about them? Wiesman started for an injured Crowder and did fine. I swear, some of you on this board are undercover Vandy fans....

Riddle me this: which offense, 2012 or 2013, with the exact same line and running backs, ran for more yards per carry?

Which offense had less penalties?

Ugh, you again.

That is not really a valid arguement. Players almost always support the current coach, that goes for head or position. They have a comfort level with and know where they stand with that coach. A new coach comes in and they might lose their starting position, so it is in their interest to preserve the status quo. Gator players were supporting Muskrat this fall, even though the program was a dumpster fire.
