UT in negotiations with Kippy Brown

Well, he interviewed Spence, Brown, Cignetti(well, he will), and rumors are he interviewed someone last night. That is just the known. He may have also talked to numerous other candidates and even pulled some other interviews that we don't know of.

Let's not act like we have some sort of inside source on what exactly CPF has done in this search, because none of us do.

...and that's really the bottom line. All we can really do is accept the process for what it is and assume the CPF is hiring the guy he thinks will be best for the program. If you have confidence in CPF, you'll go along with the hire. If you don't, it won't matter who he hires, you're going to find a reason not to like it. We won't know who is right or wrong for at least a year or two.

I know that he specifically said he was going to wait for a coaching conference so he could talk with a lot of guys. If these reports are true, that is crap, as is the interview with Cignetti. I sincerely hope these reports are not true.

I'm surprised the he has at least looked at Spence and Cignetti. Neither of which are within the family. I have no idea who the unknown possible interview from last night may have been. It seems like he is at least putting forth some effort. And it also seems as if all of these candidates have different schemes.

He also said yesterday or the day before that he wants to have these hires done before the next big recruiting weekend(Jan 11th) and before they go back out on the road(Jan 8th, I believe). I know that for a fact because I read it yesterday. This isn't just some hearsay that I heard about and wanna cling to.

CPF has probably done a lot of phone interviews and ruled people out from that alone. We're only learning about a portion of the search process... and I agree that he's been much broader than I would have expected. I hope he's getting some great insights from some of these guys whether he hires them or not.

Well, he is in Tampa.. Wonder where Gruden was last night?

I think Lloyd Carr would be a better guess for OC.:lolabove:

j/k

It could be a TB assistant though, but who knows? This could be coaches in the area for other bowl games... USF folks, NFL folks, that's a hard one to guess without another hint which will probably surface here before long.

Gruden is rumored to be leaving Tampa to take the hydration manager job for Alabama. More to come later....

I read that too. I think Jan 8th is the have everyone on board date. That would probably mean the OC needs to be known a week earlier to get buy in on all the other assistants. We may not know that soon, but that would jive with the timetable, wouldn't it?

The Panthers are in town to play the Bucs. Maybe John Fox found CPF's hotel room and started begging for a job.

One would think we wouldn't know until the 4th at the earliest if Phil actually does stick with his so called plan of talking to Cignetti on the 2nd and 3rd

Only to replace Chavis. Some of us could probably put a better offense out there than what the Panthers have had this year.

My brother just called. He was at C-store in Kingston a few minutes ago talking to one of Kippy's brothers. According to his brother, it's a shoo-in ... KB will be the next OC.

So no we've got verification from a guy's son who is friend's with the Brown family and a guy talking to Kippy's brother at a Circle K. Sounds air tight to me.

no man, its Alabama. They had to turn down Jesus Christ for their head coaching position last year. Hey, you can't take everyone...

Yep, I heard He wasn't a disciple of the Bear's. Too bad for CJC. He'd prolly be considered for the UT OC job if He had prior play-calling experience. :lolabove:

Actually, it was probably an Exxon ... but that's semantics :) Hey ... just reporting what my bro said. I wouldn't call it "air tight," but he has no reason to lie.

You've got to love the way these corroborating sources come together here. However, how do we know that the guy's son isn't the same guy who talked to Kippy's brother at the Circle K?:)

...correction... Exxon?

Sad thing is we would probably turn him down if he wanted to run the spread.

Hubbs says he has heard from people on the inside that Kippy is a lock and he has also heard from people on the inside that it isn't happening. That is how messed up the situation is.

I'd say he will announce a day or two after the Cignetti interview who is hired. He also probably has a few position coaches in mind and possibly has already contacted them(Sanders comes to mind).
