Allen, a four-star prospect, still appears to be torn between Tennessee and Georgia after reopening his recruitment Jan. 2 following the departures of former Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and offensive line coach Will Friend. Now that Georgia has hired Rob Sale a former LSU lineman who previously was the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at McNeese State as the Bulldogs' offensive line coach and added former St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to replace Bobo, Allen likely will spend the next couple of weeks getting to know Sale and Schottenheimer before making his final decision.
For now, neither the Vols nor the Bulldogs appear to have the clear advantage, although Allen seemed poised to choose Tennessee if he had followed through on his plan to announce his decision Jan. 4 at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in Carson, Calif. It now will be interesting to see whether Allen allows any other schools to sneak into the picture. South Carolina is among the teams that recently have shown interest in him, and its not out of the question that new Michigan coach Jim Harbaughs staff could reach out to Allen. Its worth noting that the Wolverines hosted Allen on an official visit in late September.
